Southern Californias THE IGNORANT originally formed in the summer of 2002 but it wasnt until 2004 that the current line-up solidified to become one of the hardest working bands the punk movement has seen in years. THE IGNORANT have little in common with the current mall punk bands who have forgotten or ignored the musics early beginnings, however, THE IGNORANT cannot be called a retro 77 band. Their sound draws from the early days of UK and Southern California punk rock without falling into the street punk void.
The band is anything but ignorant as 2004 found them playing shows wherever and whenever they could, producing one of the best sounding demo CDs ever recorded and gaining new fans throughout California, Nevada and Mexico without a proper release. Older, more jaded punks see THE IGNORANT get it, the music is powerful and the lyrics have more to them than the typical fight the government or get drunk lyrics that seem to plague many street punk bands of today. The politically charged, anti-war Belly of the Beast is one of the best punk songs heard in recent years and it is the A-side of their upcoming 7 EP. THE IGNORANT appeal to anyone looking for great punk rock music and their record will sit perfectly next to classic punk records by Social Distortion, Circle Jerks, The Clash, Ramones, Adolescents, Mad Parade, The Bodies and Bouncing Souls.
THE IGNORANT have shared the stage at many great clubs, venues, and other establishments with bands such as, The Adolescents, The Adicts, G.B.H. Throw Rag, Street Dogs, The Pushers, The Forgotten, The Ends, Pistol Grip, U.S. Bombs, Channel 3, The Vibrators, The Stiches, Youth Brigade, FM Bats, Clit 45, Lower Class Brats, The Pervz, any many, many others.
