My favorite thing to do is spend time and travel with my Lovey, Ryan. Just a day spent laying around in bed, biking, or at dinner with him is one of the best days of my life. I also love hanging out with my amazing friends and family. I love my younger sister, Sara, and my parents are totally great. Ryan, my family, and God are everything to me, & I wouldn't be much without them in my life. I know it sounds so totally cheesey, but it's the truth.
I am so crazy into NCAA basketball. I'm a Lexington, Kentucky native, so I grew up a true, blue, Kentucky Wildcats fan. Kentucky basketball is next to religion, therefore, a game is never missed. What you've heard about University of Kentucky basketball is all true ... Kentucky girls love their UK basketball!
I am also a huge NFL fan. My favorite time of the year is when pre-season football starts...because I now have games to watch, and a great reason to be in front of the t.v. (and it transitions, beautifully, into NCAA football & basketball seasons!) Ever since the Houston Oilers became the Tennessee Titans, I try my hardest to get to the home games at the Colliseum, in NashVegas. However, I'll forever be a loyal ATL Falcons fan. It's completely allowed to have an AFC team AND an NFC team, trust me.
I love any and all sports. Playing them, watching them, simply being around them makes me truly happy. I ESPECIALLY enjoy live sporting events. I take advantage of any and all tickets I can get my hands on, & make it to many different, live events each year!
Ryan and I are big into fishing and could fish every day of our lives, if given the opportunity. Obviously, ocean/gulf fishing is the best, but any day spent fishing, whether it be on the ocean or lake, is a day well spent! And, get this ... I finally caught a shark :)
Ryan and I are both downhill skiiers. We like to head to new ski destinations/resorts together each year. This years' ski trip was spent at Jackson Hole, in Wyoming, & it was one of the best times I've ever had out West. The mountains are beautiful and land out there is so pure. This year, it would be great to get to Utah! Ryan and I plan to buy a place out West - we loved Wyoming so much, and it's a great summer (hiking, camping, fishing)/winter (skiing!) vacation spot.
We also love hanging out with our two dogs - Harley (pitbull/golden lab. mix) and Jackson Hewitt (Chihuahua). They always keep us busy & have both won "Cutest Dog Ever Made" awards. Scout, my sisters' dog, has also won this award.
Besides work and the usual, I play volleyball in weekly leagues at the Foundry, run, workout, and ride bikes with my Lovey all over the place. I am also playing crazy amounts of golf this year to prepare for some big tournaments I'll be playing in this summer.
Ryan and I also love to ice skate on Sundays at open skate!
Tom Brady, qb. for the New England Patriots, because he's such a stud. Peyton Manning, qb. for the Indianapolis Colts, again, because he's such a stud. It would be cool to meet Rick Pitino, too. Then I can beg him to COME BACK TO THE UK WILDCATS - WHY THE F*CK IS HE IN LOUISVILLE?! I'd like to personally introduce myself to Billie Gillispie, new head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats, and make him guarantee me, in writing, that he will take home at least three more NCAA Championship titles in his tenure at the most prestigious college basketball program in the nation - The University of Kentucky.
I'd also like to meet and thank Jessica Bentley, from Chandlerville, KY (the girl whose fake ID I used/had throughout my underage drinking days!) You actually look like me, so I wonder if we could be related somehow ...
You Know You're From Kentucky When...
No matter how much you think you talk normally, when you head up North they all think you talk like a redneck!Your English teacher says things like "Y'all" and "Ain't Got None!"The best restaurant in town is the Cracker Barrel! No matter how bad UK's basketball team is, you still believe they'll pull it off and make it to the Final 4!You still believe the South should be it's own nation! You believe the Civil War was not a fair fight! It's not an uncommon site to see a fat man in overalls and a cowboy hat drivin' down the road in a beat up Chevy with a confederate flag hangin' off the back with music from Johhny Rebel blastin' out of his radio!Biscuits, gravy, and grits is your favorite breakfast!Wakin' up with coons and squirrels on your back porch is not an uncommon thing! To you, huntin' aint killin', its sorta like grocery shoppin'!You own at least 10 country or southern rock cd's!You only own a pair of church shoes and winter shoes! In the summer you don't wear shoes!Even your grandmother chews tobacco! You consider the northern part of the country "The Union!"A rebel flag doesn't symbolize racism to you!Your church parking lot is filled with pick-ups!The first words out of your mouth every time you see your friends are "Howdy!", "HEY!" or "How Y'all Doin'?"You actually know who Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban, Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, and George Strait are!A carbonated soft drink is a COKE, regardless of brand or flavor! You refer to Louisville as "The Ville."And, finally, you actually get these jokes & are STILL proud to be from Kentucky!
Jimmy Buffett is my number one, and always has been (and no, I didn't start liking J.B. five years ago - my dad and I are true, southern Parrotheads!)
Nothing's better than seeing your favorite singer, live, all over the country. The above albums, particularly, Living & Dying in 3/4 Time, are truly amazing. Coconut Telegraph, Floridays, A1A, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Last Mango in Paris and Havana Daydreamin' are a must...if you do not own these albums, you really can't quite grasp what Jimmy Buffett is all about. I really should reitterate this - the greatest thing ever, is seeing him live!
George Strait is my all-time favorite country singer. He never ceases to impress me with great songs each and every album he comes out with.
Pre overly-beached-out Kenny Chesney is another one of my favorites. Me & You, I Will Stand, She's Got It All, and Everywhere We Go are all albums that have captured my heart.
Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, Tim McGraw (anyone who loves Tim McGraw and hasn't heard Telluride yet, MUST), pre Chris Gaines Garth Brooks, post Achey Breaky Heart Billy Ray Cyrus (I promise it's great!), Kathy Matthea, Randy Travis, John Michael Montgomery, Diamond Rio, Kentucky Head Hunters, Johnny Cash, Sammy Kershaw, Mavericks, Willie Nelson, Faith Hill, Hank Jr., Patty Loveless (Blame It On Your Heart is my favorite karaoke song...and I rock it like NASA), Bobbie Gentry, and almost all pre-2002 country music, for starters.
I like anything else from Dashboard Confessional to Pink Floyd to Black Crowes (I LOVE the Black Crowes!) to Fleetwood Mac to Van Morisson, etc.
I also like hip-hop and rap - to a very certain extent.
I love and appreciate all music and can enjoy it all (even Ryans' Slayer and Deftones!) with the exceptions of *pure* garbage like Green Day and Good Charlotte. I really hate punk music - it's for uncreative, whiney, delinquents with zero future.
I LOVE Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Last Samurai, Man on Fire, 300, Snatch, God of War, Happy Gilmore, Where the Heart Is, SuperBad, Blades of Glory, all of the Bourne series, Oceans 11-13, Anchor Man, Billy Madison, Toy Story 1 and 2 - Woody = my favorite,
Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Fight Club, Great Expectations, Underworld 1 and 2, Caddyshack, Constantine, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Joe Dirt, etc.
So, Ryan has totally gotten me into 24, and I love it. We prefer to marathon 24, too. We also love Rome, the Office, the Office - BBC version, Dexter, and Prison Break.
I LOVE all three seasons of The Simple Life (and wish I had even half of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richies' wardrobes! Although, Ryan seems to think that I am pretty damn close!) Ryan and I also LOVE watching HG TV for decorating tips for our Warrenville & Florida homes. I also watch the MTV reality filth such as The Real World, Next, Date My Mom, Laguna Beach, The Hills, Newport Beach, Parental Control, etc.
I love anything by Ayn Rand and Hemingway.
I keep saying that I'll start on a solid, 150+ page book soon, but it still escapes me to actually gather the motivation to pick one up and do so. So, in the meantime, I'll stick to magazines and short-term focus reading material, like reading my horoscope. I'm totally open to suggestions on what I should read, though. Any ideas?
Keep in mind that I don't like fantasy and extremely far-fetched science fiction ... no Lord of The Rings/Harry Potter stuff.
