About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Hello! I grew up in north Florida and wanted to be a wildlife biologist from a very early age. After high school I served 5 years in the U.S. Army, with most of my service in Germany. Upon discharge I returned to the states where I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Pittsburg State University. I then attended the University of Florida where I received my Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Soil/Water Science. My graduate work was equally split with committee members from both the Wildlife department and the department of Soil and Water Science. My research interests include the relationships between soils, vegetation, land-use history and wildlife. My Master's research centered upon gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) population densities in relation to both soil series, land-use history and vegetation. I conducted gopher tortoise burrow surveys to determine relative densities between sites, followed by soil GIS mapping and vegetation cover surveys for each study site.I've worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Army Corps of Engineers. My wide range of specialties include- design and construction of super-sized bat houses, habitat/land management, endangered species monitoring/management, game harvest monitoring/management, wildlife survey design, bird surveys, habitat restoration, herpetology surveys/trapping, bat monitoring with Anabat detector, aerial wildlife surveys, small mammal surveys/trapping, soil/landscape analysis, and GIS spatial analysis/mapping.Some of my career highlights/favorite projects include- the rediscovery of the extremely rare Florida salt marsh vole on the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge. click here to read vole article Did I also mention that I'm a member of PETA?= People EATING Tasty Animals!!!I have the greatest family in the world! A six year old, Seth, 1+ year old little girl, Sophia and 20 something beautiful wife, Beth! We are currently building a new house, which is my present full-time job.
