About Me

I've never really stepped back and taken the time to understand who I am. I have an idea of where I've been, what I used to be, but never looked myself straight in the eye and asked questions. I really don't see a point in knowing.
Even after re-writing my profile, I'm still not very good at describing myself. I am, however, able to describe my major interests a bit further in order to brighten things by a different candle.
Art has never been an academic focus of mine, but I do tend to enjoy pouring my thoughts into margins on notebook paper, usually in the form of sketches. Graphic design is also pretty cool. It was rather spontaneous, but somewhere down the line an affinity for typography developed. I think I'd like to sit down and create a really unique font sometime, but I'm not sure when I'll get any revolutionary ideas...
Music is also one of my interests. I've been practicing the piano for a while and my sightreading is improving, but I'm still just a novice. I know how to play the clarinet... but I rarely pick it up. It really seems to be one of those instruments that fits better in an ensemble. I never felt cool jamming out tunes on my clarinet in my practicing years.
Acrobatics. I seemed to sacrifice most of my acrobatic time for practicing music lately. I used to play a little bit of capoeira while I had the time too. I really want to finish learning how to gainer and butterfly twist (60% and 75% respectively). A little bit of parkour here and there to train my vision and ability. Lately, I've not really been demanding much participation from myself.
Videogames. I really don't know where to start. This would certainly be one of the greatest influences of my life. All of the different worlds that people have created are rather interesting. It is like a collective consciousness, as they all are interconnected through the influence of their roots. There are plenty of games that tend to look like one another, but I really enjoy seeing the different styles used to make games of the same genre. Art, music, and gameplay are the three variables that hold practically every combination of videogame to be known by mankind. The environment is set with both the music and the graphics of a game and basically set the stage of the dream while gameplay is how the player is able to pull the dream and shape it by their fingers. I see it as a chance to dream and experience other people's dreams while I remain conscious. It is without a doubt that I can say videogames are my literature of preference.
I'm sure if you look around enough, you'll be able to find what you need to draw a conclusion about me (if you really feel like you need to do some preparation). Draw whatever you want. If you show it to me, I may even give you a pretty penny.

My Interests

videogames, typography, graphic design, music, playing the piano, composition, entertaining thoughts, gymnastics, parkour, capoeira, breakdancing

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet someone who would be able to show me what I wanted to know. Not that I know what that is now, but conveniently knowing these people before I know what it is I'm looking for makes it easy. The faster an answer is received, the sooner it can develop into deeper understanding.

Music:

Favorite Genres: Drum and Bass, Breakbeats, Ambience, House, Classical, Baroque, Renaissance, Hip-hop, Trip hop

I get pickier when it comes to the following: Jazz, Techno, R&B, Lounge, Trance

These are alright: Rock, Pop, IDM

Not preferable: Rap*, Country

*Beastie Boys are an exception

Movies:

Rather than try to list a whole bunch of movies, this will be a running list of movies I've seen lately. Don't worry. It won't change very often.

Television:

As a child, I was raised with "band of heroes" cartoons like TMNT, Captain Planet and X-Men. Children's shows like Tiny Toon Adventures, Eek the Cat, Bobby's World, Rugrats, Duck Tales, Arthur, Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Rocko's Modern Life and others that I'm not remembering also contributed to my growth. Power Rangers was pretty cool when it started, but after the White Ranger it started to go downhill (as they started replacing everybody). The cartoons based off of videogames were cheesy albeit amusing. Some "post elementary school" shows that I watched were Pokemon, Tenchi Muyo, Yu-gi-oh, Sifl and Olly, and South Park

Nowadays I really don't watch anything. Sure, if the TV is on I might sit down and watch something, but I'm not going to touch the remote. If adult swim is on, I might linger in the room a bit longer... but other than that, I'm not really a TV watcher (playing videogames is an entirely different story).

Books:

I'm not very good about reading books. Sure, it would be good to put my nose in a book for a couple hours a week... but I really don't like the smell of it. I'm not sure what I'd like to read... but if I did know, I'm not sure I would bother. I've got far too many videogames to arbitrarily allocate the time to reading a book instead. That's not to say that there was a bit of reading I did growing up.

As a child I used to read The Boxcar Children. I remember reading the Redwall series as well. At some time I read The Phantom Tollbooth. As I entered High School I read Snow Crash. I read some of the Chronicles of Pern... and The Golden Compass fits in here somewhere.

I've slain several other books in my educational wake, but I really haven't bothered recalling what those might be. Not that I need to... they've got plenty of other patrons to pay homage at their tombs. If the books I've forgotten were worth remembering, I'd probably have listed them already.

Heroes:

People of the past that didn't abuse their influence over the future.
