hi, rebecca!

i'm all dressed up and ready to play.

About Me

So, about me.
I'm engaged and can't wait for my wedding day - May 31st, 2008.
My fiancé Derek is a stand-up comedian, so not only is he ridiculously sweet and kind-hearted (aww), he's also kinda funny. But, when it comes to tableside banter, his two sisters have him beat - they're way funnier. But he seems to be making a pretty good niche for himself in the comedy scene - if you think about it, have you ever seen a comedian with full sleeves of tattoos? So overall, I'm quite the lucky girl, despite the fact that his job involves making fun of me and our relationship half the time.
I'm from Cincinnati, and moved to Columbus about a year and a half ago. This whole Ohio State "Go Buckeyes!" crazed-madness up here is slowly growing on me, despite my initial resistance. But no kick-ass college team can replace my love for the Cincinnati Bengals, and pro-football in general. It also goes hand-in-hand that I despise the Pittsburgh Steelers. They suck. Don't tell me otherwise if you'd like to stay friends with me.
I work for M.A.C Cosmetics and have been involved in professional makeup artistry for roughly five years. I love makeup artistry, but hate retail. Being able to educate someone on something as fun and trivial as makeup is actually pretty rewarding. Oher times, the people you try to help are just destined to suck your soul. I love to do as much freelance makeup artistry as I can - I love working with other people to assist in creating beautiful images. I was a fashion photograhy major, so working with other photographers is something I'll always enjoy. No matter where I'll end up, it's become clear to me that I've past the point of no return with makeup - I'll always be somewhat obsessed with it.
I know my vices. I swear often, drive way too fast, and am extremly picky about nearly everything I eat. You'll find me swearing the most once I finish work for the day. People tell me I have an incredibly saccarine way of dealing with customers, which I think slowly poisons me throughout the day, leaving me with no option other than to add the word "fuck" to every sentance possible once I've left my job for the day. Whatever. I enjoy it. I have a very bad and unbreakable habit of driving way too fast. Derek gets scared when I go around turns. I don't eat meat, unless it's bacon. Don't even try to explain it because I can't. I can't live without peanut butter. Ever.
I take a stand when it comes to politics. I think, in an ideal world (which, in reality, doesn't exist in politics), society and politicians wouldn't view issues in a black-and-white standpoint. I wish we, as a young society, were able to decide what we felt was right or wrong based on the individual issues at hand, and not be forced to fit into one of the two major political parties. We, as a society of the most powerful nation in the world, deserve more choices, and deserve more control - but I strongly belive only a select few people actually do control the decisions. I'm very untrusting of the way the government runs itself, and while I'll always vote, I am bitter to the point where I almost feel like saying it doesn't matter what I think anymore. But really, I won't ever stop having an opinion - it's about having one, being educated about it, and doing something about it, that matters.
I love animals. I want lots of them. Especially horses. I miss my two girls, Sassy and Valentine. I'm determined to get back involved with horses again, and I'd love to eventually own a few. I love my cat Pony Girl, and I'm pretty sure she things she's a dog. I adopted her as a wee little kitten from a local rescue shelter, and she is now my cat child. I love her. Our latest addition to the family is the new little rascal puppy, Wyley. We adopted him from a rescue center as well (something i firmly believe in doing if you're looking for a pet - don't buy from a breeder, rescue an animal in need!), and it's been fun so far starting our own little animal family unit.
I probably won't live in Columbus for long. Derek is from Portland, and his family is both there and in Illinois. My family is now moving from Cincinnati to the east coast, which terrifies me - the thought of being far from them doesn't sit well with me. This being said, there's not a whole lot of reason for me to stay in Columbus for much longer. The great thing is with Derek's job of making people of laugh, he can do that anywhere. Which leaves things pretty open. So, I'm taking suggestions - east or west coast? So, with all of this, I'm still stuck with the notion that I'm supposed to be a part of something bigger, so I don't expect things to stay the same for me for very long.
Wish me luck.

My Interests

i love makeup artistry, as clearly demonstrated here.

i am adamently devoted to this cause, and you should be too.

i care deeply about animals and the environment.
i cannot live without peanut butter and i eat it every day.
tivo sustains my everyday living.
i'm left handed.
everyone recognizes that pink is my color.
fresh flowers make me happy.
i traded in my suv and bought a new car for better gas mileage and lower emissions.
i make the best grilled cheese sandwhich, and pancakes.
my bed is never made.
i'm a bitch without drinking coffee.
staunch republicans make me frustrated.
i have a hard time pronouncing the word "couture."
thunderstorms make me smile.
i send and receive nearly 2,000 text messages every month.
other drivers usually bother me.
breakfast is always my favorite meal.
i have an addiction to buying new cell phones.
i drink beer.
i always have altoids.
i adamently save my money, but will spend it on large purchases such as vacation or furniture.
just thinking about spiders scares me.
i have great hair, but humidity makes it wilt and suck.
i don't answer my phone that often.
i watch cnn headline news every day.
i get depressed when i think about how wasteful we all are.
i expect good customer service.
i believe that if you do not use turn signals, you deserve to be yelled at.
i get excited buying plane tickets.
i love big, bad roller coasters.
i call people, most often my mom, on my way to work to distract me from my destination.
i'm pretty clueless when it comes to planning my wedding.
i can never sleep in too late.
therefore, the sound of my alarm disgusts me.
i often drive for long distances with no music playing.
i wish target was open 24/7.
i take lots of photos then never upload them.
i love waking up to the faint sound of lawn mowers running and the smell of fresh cut grass.
i'm a vacation snob and insist on going somewhere every couple of months.
my competitiveness is both my virtue and my vice.
i always take my mom's advice to heart.
i'm very, very stubborn.
i drop things frequently.
do not dare try to tell me i am not right.
freshly washed 800 thread-count sheets are lavishly enjoyed.
chocolate cake is a sin and my weakness.
i simply cannot wait to marry this boy:

and i've always been inspired by this quote:
"I beg you - to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart, and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer." -Rainer Maria Rilke.

.

I'd like to meet:

My grandmother. She died when my mom was 16. I have her engagement ring as my own now, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have something that connects me so directly to her.
Carson Palmer.
Paris Hilton.
Just to kick her ass. therefore, i support this website.
Jenna Jameson. While I actually have met her, I wouldn't pass up a second opportunity - she's gorgeous, has created a successful business empire, and stands up for what she believes in.
David Lachapelle.
Johnny Knoxville.
Harry Potter.
Jon Stewart.
If I had any say, he'd be president.
Ryan Reynolds.
Captain Jack Sparrow.
Pamela Anderson.
David Beckham.
The kids of Laguna Beach.
Just to remind them that they are, still, spoiled brats.
Bam Margera.
The Beastie Boys.
George W. Bush.
Just to find out who really is pulling the puppet strings.
and I will have a conversation with anyone who finds this as amusing as I do:

Music:

Angels and Airwaves, Beastie Boys, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, Ok Go, Death Cab For Cutie, Imogen Heap, Hard-Fi, LCD Soundsytem, Shiny Toy Guns, Kasabian, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Kanye West, The Fray, Acceptance, Louis XIV, Portishead, Jack Johnson, Sepiamusic, Zero 7, Postal Service, Frou Frou, U2, Maroon 5, Jimmy Eat World, M.I.A., The Bravery, Audioslave, Clutch, The Killers, Jay Z, Stereophonics, Olive, Massive Attack, and most of the Rhymesayers Entertainment lineup, especially Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Eyedea, DJ Abilities and Mr. Dibbs. I love hip-hop DJs. Any way you look at it, if you're educated about the type of music you listen to, enjoying it can follow suit.

Movies:

Farenheit 9/11 (regardless of your political views, this raises some good questions), the corporation, gladiator (probably my all-time favorite movie), office space, fightclub, children of men, lord of war, running scared, lucky number slevin, garden state, boondock saints, pan's labrynth, memento, ocean's eleven, run lola run, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, smokin' aces, labrynth, requiem for a dream, shawn of the dead, flight of the navigator, taladega nights, snatch, the kill bills, the secret of nimh, goodfellas, innerspace, the last unicorn, scarface, robin hood (the cartoon verison with the foxes), american beauty, casino, van wilder, anchorman, seven, 28 days later, anything with ryan reynolds in it, 70's horror movies, gangster and mob genres.

Television:

Grey's Anatomy is my religion and i have the entire current season locked in my tivo, for which my fiance hates me for because there's hardly any room for anything else. Law & Order SVU - I can watch ten episodes in a row and not get sick of it and I think I've tivoed every episode ever aired. Sex & The City, duh, because I'm a girl. The Daily Show & The Colbert Report. CNN Headline News. Pro football. Drawn Together. Family Guy. Engaged & Underage on MTV. The Hills (whatever, I can admit it). Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel is truly, sincerely, absolutely amazing television. Yes, I tivoed every episode of that too.

Books:

"He's Just Not That Into You" and "It's Called a Breakup Because it's Broken" are two books that every girl should own and treat as their personal bible, for heartbreak insurance and general male understanding. I'm a girly-girl, so I like girly books - but I'm always up for a good political educator, as long as it's mostly unbiased and based on fact (hard to come by these days). Read "Rule By Conspiracy" if you want to learn alot. Where the Wild Things Are is my favorite, as well as Goodnight Moon, The Giving Tree and The Runaway Bunny... I yearn for those memories of having them read to me as a child. I love Zink magazine, but mainly for the fashion and photography spreads, and when they give shoutouts to M.A.C. I've read and very much enjoyed all the Harry Potter books, and cannot wait for the next installment - oh and I'm STILL appalled by the ending of "the half-blood prince" - fucking shocking and i'm so not over it yet.

Heroes:

anyone who is currently getting paid with benefits for doing what they love and nothing else.
