About Me

My name is Angel Macias, but they call me Angel Ghost. The nickname came in 1998 at a night club in northern California.
There was an open mic Hip-hop/ Reggae competition, but I wasn't schedule to participate. After hearing several aspiring rappers battle each other out, I got onstage by request of one of my friends who knew the Dj. After I started spitting lirics to the instrumental of "This is How We do it", the crowd went crazy. One of the other aspiring rappers asked "Where this n*gga came from? It is like if a motherf*cking ghost came out of nowwhere"ever since I have been called Ghost, but I chose to keep my birth name, Angel, in front because I define my music, and don't let it define me as an individual.
Ghost is just a name for my alter ego. I have performed in several venues since that faithful day. From Sacramento, CA. To Vallejo, California. To Las Vegas, Nevada. To Costa Rica, and as far as South Korea.THIS IS WHERE THE TIHS~~Reverse GETS PERSONALI was born in the Caribbean City of Colon, Panama. My mother and father got divorced when I was 2. We survived from day to day just to get something to eat. For those of you who know how life in Calle 13 in Colon was like. You know what I'm talking about.
My mom as a public school teacher didn't make much, but what little she had, she made with. Sometimes we'd just go to bed hungry. One night my mother kneeled and ask God to never let me or my future generations to ever go hungry again. Her prayers have been answered.I moved to Panama city at the age of 8 after my mother married the man that I owe who I am today to. At the age of 10 I used to freestyle to whatever song they had on the radio. Mostly Shaba Ranks, Nando Boom, Chicho Man. At 16 I wrote my first song. It was about the struggles of poor panamanian youth. Months after, I did an impromptu performance at a Reggae festival. By the reaction of the crowd I knew that reaching people through my music was my calling.
After high school graduation I started performing in local venues in Panama creating a name for my self and also taking part in clashes with other reggae artists.I ain't even gonna lie. My very first competition, they threw cups, cans, ice cubes, etc. at me before I even started rappin, but by the time I was done I had earned their respect and admiration and expanded my fan base. Is funny now that I think about it.I kept on winning competitions a.k.a battles. This eventually let to auditions with several Panamanian producers, but after seeing the struggle of many local artists in Panama whose talent were being neglected at the radio stations level in favor of foreign reggaeton artists, I chose to go abroad to pursue my goal.
Don't get me wrong. I love my country, but my country sometimes can be a muthaf*cker
