My grandmother, Mary Fitzwater, went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on May 30, 2007. She loved more than anyone I've every known by extending forgiveness and grace. I've never known anyone like her. Everyone who came into her presence fell in love with her, instantly. People felt comfortable and loved in her presence, with an assurance of knowing she wasn't condemning or judgmental. I'm not good, yet my bad is better because of her. I started missing her, 2 months prior to her death when she had a stroke, but I thank God for her suffering was short. Her legacy is carried out though her daughter, my wonderful mother, Joan Kelton. Because of them I can't recall not knowing Jesus loved me, in spite of my sin. My granny taught me not to judge others and to put myself in their shoes with empathy and love.
I such a sinner, only forgiven by God's grace through His Son, Christ Jesus. I do more bad than good. Grace is for the bad not for the good otherwise it wouldn't be called grace, unmerited favor, gift that one can't earned or deserve. So if you, like me feel you can't & will never measure up, have I got the greatest good news ever...Christ is quiet fond of you. The thief on the cross wasn't good, he was among the worse of the worse. He didn't do any good works and hanging there beside Christ he didn't have time to do anything except the most important thing...He acknowledge Christ as the Son of God, asking Jesus, if He would remember him when reunited with God the Father in Heaven...Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Paradise translated in the New Testament refers to a place of bliss and rest. So I can only speak for myself, but that's the place I want to live forever...my grandmother is there & again I will see her.
We can't be perfect in this world and this world is anything but perfect, yet there is a place that is. Don't measure yourself against anyone else’s goodness or lack there of, for the truth is none of us are good...some just think they are and some think they're too bad.
Remember the thief beside Jesus, all he did was ask and Jesus did the rest...He'll do the same for you as well as for me...The other thief chose to mock when it's really that simple... Just ask, God will do the rest even if your asking is, "Lord, I'm not sure how to believe, but I'd like to will You help me?" I promise based on His promise He will not forsake because He first loved us while we were worse of the worse and in sin and He will love you in spite of your sin, just by asking.
Now for the rest of the story to let you know more about me...The I like meeting new friends, but one day I hope to have every former student on my friends list...To hear from them is greater than anything I can imagine. They got through tough times and the best of times. Each comment from them is a reminder to never take life for granted.
Only two things in life I wanted to be...a singer/performer & a teacher. I feel so blessed, I got to do both and in that order. I didn't think anything could make me as happy as singing on a stage, until I taught Prek-5th general music in the public school; the highlight of my life. Yet, I admit I miss singing and do when asked or the opportunity presents itself...I'm trying to learn to let doors open where they may without kicking them down...haha!
I learned so much from children, probably much more than I taught them. What I wrote above is one of the many aspects of life, I learned through a child's eyes. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them. Due to health, I had to slow down & quit, I don't know how much my health improved, cause it like to have killed me.
I took up photography as a hobby to help me relax, God's beautiful world will do that. I have so much to learn about photography, but much more to learn about relaxing and letting God lead in the direction that is His will...I'm a famous backseat driver,lol! Many times I go wrong when I should have turned right...there in the middle of nowhere, yet never alone for God is always there to guide me back home.
