Music:
in no particular order: the fall, the national, british sea power, nick cave and his bad seeds, bright eyes pj harvey, jj72, elliott smith, joy division, john martyn, lee 'scratch' perry, martha wainwright, brakes, flaming lips, belle and sebastian,
Movies:
don't see too many...donnie darko favourite [i'm a geeky teenager what were you expecting?], downfall is a good film as is battle royale. some concessions to the bourgeisie in shawshank redemption and lotr: two towers. an oldie fave has to be matter of life and death, david niven at his gentlemanly moustach-ed best.
Television:
prefer tv to movies as i feel there is more experimenting...big train changed my life! mighty boosh, look around you, garth marenghi's darkplace
Books:
i'm essentially a pulp soul. jake arnott's harry starks trilogy is a bloody good holiday read. fifth child by doris lessing is a horror novel that knocks every piece of steven king bullshit populating the genre into touch. vesuvius club by mark gattiss is what i'd like every bond film to be like hilarious yet totally enthralling
Heroes:
geordie from deal or no deal- 'twas an episode in greek tragedy; one man stood against the gods, shook his fist and roared a battlecry in the great name of mathematics-he went along from west to east-BUT HARK THE SUN IT RISES IN THE EAST YOUNG FOOL!!! the gods they smote him to and from a twenty five pandora's boxes squirmed, squashed and squigelled their primeval, primordial, primitive payload into his fragile northern skull-OH THE HORROR!!! THE PAIN!!! residing like prometheus he woke up in a hospital, the vultures had been laid off by nhs jobcuts-so sentenced to live his life in an MRSAed hell FOREVER!!! OH HOW YOU WILL WEEP WHEN YOU RECALL HIS NAME!!! out of the less important "serious" people-henry darger and rachel corrie
