-THE MISSION-
To establish and uphold the North Carolina urban music market through the strengthening of relations among the elements of the creation, production, business, marketing, and performance of Hip-Hop and R&B music.
One of the most overlooked and tedious part of being a successful musician is the education of the music industry, the "how-to's". Why should it be a mystery as to how to get radio play, or why it is so difficult to attain? What are the labels really looking for and how can you stand out from other artist? How can we establish LEGITIMATE independent labels and have records formally released in North Carolina?
On the other hand, if the program and music directors, club promoters, publishers, etc. were able to understand the importance and benefit of working right along side the artists and DJs, they would be more inclined to aid in their creative progression which in itself leads to the formation of the market.
When you enlighten those who are the epitome of the market, the market itself flourishes and becomes more efficient. Think about it: If you knew the winning lottery numbers for a drawing that takes place in three weeks, how much money would you spend on tickets for the first two weekly drawings? Not much. That's efficiency and the NCUMA will use these themes to build North Carolina's urban music market up to its powerful potential.
