About Me

Born in Cornwall, U.K, Jeremy was influenced at an early age by dance music, especially Hip Hop & House. He went from party-goer to dj as he discovered the wonders of cutting, mixing & fading. Not long after he started Dj-ing he realised his talent & went about promoting himself as a dj & shortly afterwards entered his first club residency. Formerly known as 'Jeremy Gurl' Jeremy has been a dj in the pro ranks since since 1994. Back then he rocked the dancefloors with his amazing house sets, never ceasing to please the crowds with his special blend of music. Time moved on & so did his musical taste, over the years his sound became more electronic, progressive & Minimal took over from House leaving us where we stand today. Musically, who knows what the future will bring, but just be sure that whatever the style there will be no stopping to what can come out of one of his dj sets!! ENJOY !

Influences: Where do i start...having a young mother (she's 17 yrs older than me..love u mum !) & listening to BBC Radio 1 in the late 70s when Disco was at its peak. Then Shannon, The Rock Steady Crew, Manronix & Newcleus & the whole early 80's Disco & Electro/Breakdance got me going. Herbie Hancock had a (correct me if i am wrong!) number 1 hit in the U.K. with 'Rocket' & that blew me away...the video was on top of the pops & i had never heard nor seen such a thing before. Madness got me going with Baggy Trousers (thats probably why i still wear em low) & the 80's took their effects with New Order, Kraftwerk, Prince, Micheal Jackson, Blondie, The Jam, Duran Duran, Chaka Khan & Madonna. Then as a teenager i started skateboarding & Hip Hop took the country & myself by storm, NWA, Public Enemy, Gangstarr, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, The Beastie Boys, Run Dmc, Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, Digital Underground & The Jungle Brothers was the stuff that i listened to. I also got into the new House/Dance scene that was big in the late 80's early 90's. Back then the scene wasn't split into so many sub-genres & clichés like it is today, to us it was just 'Dance' music. Back in those days, going to a house party meant that you would hear all kinds of styles, (Hip Hop, House, Techno) but no matter what the style, it was the kind of music as a whole that was special to us. Everything that was played & heard at those partys was too underground to be played on the radio or in clubs & it was that special kind of music that made us feel different from the 'normal' club-goers in a very positive way! Tracks from Frankie Knuckles, Fast Eddie, Lil Louis, C+C Music factory, Snap, Eric B & Rakim, Bomb The Bass & Coldcut were the sounds that we danced & went wild to. A move to Bueckeburg in North Germany with my family put a damper on things in '91. I arrived in Germany only to find out that the music scene was 10 years behind what was going on in England....but a new friend by the name of Timo Maas got me back on the right musical track. He used to play in a small disco called 'Herz As' where he was playing the coolest music even back then! After a visit to his flat & seeing his amazing record collection, all i wanted was to do was get my own turntables & start dj-ing! I remember going out, hungry for vinyl buying stuff like 808 State, Altern 8, The Prodigy, The Shamen, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans, Blur & The Stone Roses. Moving on & unfortunately losing touch with Timo, i landed in a town called Minden. It was much bigger than Bueckeburg & the nightlife was terrific at the time. There i met up with Tim & Andy Young & through the help of their older brother Peter who gave us a Technics 1210 record player & a mixer, i started Djing. At first it was all hard work because we didn't know how to mix properly & at the time there weren't that many Djs around to get any help off. Peter showed us how to pitch the records so that the beats ran parallel to each other (CHEERS PEEWEE !!!) & soon we got the hang of things & went absolutely mad at mixing...After getting the hang of mixing at home & at various private partys, we then started spinning records at public partys. In an old warehouse there was an underground club called FKK & once a month they ran a dance themed party called 'Dance or Die'. I remember playing my first gig there & being so shit scared when it was my turn that i couldn't put the needle on the start of the record because i was shaking so much! From there on things pretty much took off. I was pretty confident of my skills & asked the guy that ran a nearby club called 'Neons' in Bielefeld if i could have a go one evening. I ended up impressing him so much with the set that i played that he asked me if i wanted to become his resident Dj on the same night. I then moved with the organisers to a club called Madhouse in the middle of Bielefeld, which was one of the first House clubs in the whole area. The music at the time was pretty much Detroit/Chicago type stuff & i played tunes from & with such names as Dj Sneak, Terrence Parker, Robert Armani, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, The Stickmen, Josh Wink, Keoki & Derrick May. The whole Chicago thing then got me into playing more house sounding sets & from then on i mostly played House. Through Disco House i discovered the real Disco sound & got digging in the crates for classics like Shirly Lites, Larry Levan, Loletta Holloway, Rockers Revenge, GQ, Martin Circus & my fav disco label West End Records. Then after going back & discovering disco through all those years of playing House i got to a point where i couldn't relate to the typical House sound & started playing deeper, more Techy tunes with less & less vocals. My sound slowly got harder & straighter & i played what some people called U.K. House at the time, with artists such as Groove Armada, The Audio Bullys, Deep Dish, Fat boy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Meat Katie, Rennie Pilgrim, Soul Of Man...Anything that sounded fresh & was different from the usual mainstream House that all the djs were playing was the thing for me! Then time took its toll & my style got harder & harder & i ended up leaving House behind & going crazy over the Electro/Minimal sounds & still am to this day. Nowadays i rock sets with tunes from Dubfire, Rekorder, Shlomi Aber, Trapez, Gabriel Ananda, M.A.N.D.Y., Poker Flat, Stephan Bodzin, Trentemoller, Booka Shade, Mobilee, Oliver Huntemann, Thomas Schumacher, Martin Eyerer, Kling Klong, Connaisseur Rec, Loco Dice, Minus Rec, Lützenkirchen, Gui Boratto, Fuckpony, Zoo Brazil, Pierce, Pig & Dan, Robert Babicz, Pheek, Etc,Etc...But as you can guess, i've accumulated thousands of records over the years & more influences than i could fit on this whole page, so i'll end this novel by giving a big shout out to all the Dj's that have influenced & inspired me over the years....BIG ups to Timo Maas, Dj Sneak, Terrence Parker, Ben Liebrand & his amazing Grandmixes, Rae & Christian, Masters At Work, Kid Alex, Roland Casper, Pete Tong & his Radio 1 Essential Mix, Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore, Freddy Fresh, 2 Many Dj's, Dj Shadow, James Lavelle, Dj Yoda, Dj Dimtri From Paris, there are sooo many...............!
