it makes my stomach hurt just contemplating the gargantuan task of listing my favorite bands. heavy alt; heavy metal (the harder and more extreme the better); 70's non-disco; 90's; big band; ah, hell -- suffice to say i love most anything but contemporary country, or gospel, both of which i hate. i don't like soul music. oh, and Hawaiian/cruise music. i hate that shit, too.
Natural Born Killers, ***horror***, indy, anything freaky, Eyes Wide Shut, all Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Argento and select other giallo, House of Yes, Stone, Parker Posey, Curdled, Kate Hudson, Jack Nicholson, Keanu Reeves, House of 1000 Corpses, 200 Cigarettes, too many to name. (and yes, i love Grease, & always wanted to be Sandy.)
i don't watch tv.
any Aldous Huxley, Rand, geek love (dunn), anything Koja or Ketchum or Barker, Iain (M.) Banks, Ballard, WB Yeats (brilliant), Lovecraft, Lord Dunsany, More Pricks Than Kicks, too many to even begin to list. lots of non-fiction in the form of neuroscience, physiological behaviorism, and some physics.
be your own hero. runners-up are my dad, my mom, Don Henley, & my maternal grandmother. honorable mentions are Ayn Rand for sheer brilliance regarding the human condition, Aldous Huxley for being the most intuitive and entertaining author to ever walk the planet, and Tori Amos for being not only brilliantly gifted, but the most trenchant, piercing intuitor-expressionist into the female psyche i've ever witnessed.
