About Me

Los Angeles based electronic musician Mark Nieto, commonly known as COMBAT!, has been making music under the moniker for the past four years. Originally playing in punk bands throughout his youth, COMBAT! was turned onto hip hop and electronic music during his college years and it redirected his musical goals. Captivated by the sounds of Aphex Twin, Prefuse 73, J-Dilla, The Books and others, he set out to create his own abstract compositions. Using found sounds, samples from records, as well as his own personal recordings, he creates multi-textural pieces that give the listener a unique experience with each play.
His first release, Movimientos, is a record to listen to in a soft chair with headphones. Or on a long drive through the city as the sun sets. It's a record for traveling. It's a record for sitting at home. It contains contributions from Rarebit and Dr. Fiction of Sequins and Skeletons. COMBAT! looks forward to collaborating more in the future and is working on new material right now.COMBAT! is looking for shows. If you would like to book COMBAT! please e-mail [email protected]
"Movimientos is a passage in time. Listening is like collecting the artists' memories and trying to put the pieces in the correct order to complete a glimpse into a world very foreign yet very similiar. From deep space ambience to scattered flittering beats to chiming guitars and world percussion, Movimientos invites the ears to challenge the heart."
