Movies:

"It's a lie. It's a bunch of sad strangers photographed beautifully, and... all the glittering assholes who appreciate art say it's beautiful 'cause that's what they wanna see. But the people in the photos are sad, and alone... But the pictures make the world seem beautiful, so... the exhibition is reassuring which makes it a lie, and everyone loves a big fat lie."

"In the sunset of dissolution, everything is illuminated by the aura of nostalgia, even the guillotine."-Milan Kundera. I avoided this movie like the plague simply because it is one of my all time favorite novels. I read an article where director Liev Schreiber said he was basing it on the New Yorker article excerpt and not the novel itself and I almost vomited blood. Schreiber however is a masterful storyteller and has made a film about the search for meaning and identity an all time classic. Kudos to Schreiber, Elijah Wood, and Eugene Hutz for retaining the heart of this brilliant novel.
