About Me

Need I say more?

My Interests

I have so many interests, it would be fruitless to try to name them all here. However, I will take a stab at it. Art: I love everything to do with art. The culinary arts, painting, photography, going to art museum, watching people paint on the sidewalk, sidewalk chalk art. The Outdoors: I love camping, hiking, walking, going to the beach and meditating. I love skiing, biking, kayaking (hard to do in a desert), fishing...yes, fishing...and I'm sure there are many other things that I haven't tried that I would love. Learning: I'm a stickler for new information. I guess this is how I keep myself from becoming a total dork while I'm not actually studying something. I read with a passion, and will research anything that I don't know. Like, these little green peppers from Spain that are mild, except for every one in five...which is fiery hot. How cool is that!?!? Pimientos de Padron (excuse the lack of appropriate accents.) Some might even call me a nerd. Food: I know this falls under art, but I love it so much, it deserves it's own section. I'm in culinary school...so we know that I must love food. Strange how I never eat though.

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting all sorts of new people, if I can manage to get out of the house. I work too much, but on my days off I like drinking coffee and chain smoking cigarettes (in the process of quiting?), and anyone else who does this has my vote.
On a more esoteric level, I would have loved to have met Ayn Rand, Andy Warhol, H.G. Wells, Picasso, Descartes, and the person who invented instant Jello. This section is now dedicated to the video of the moment:

Music:

I do listen to just about everything, although I really am just a little alternative girl. Country bothers me, unless it's someone like Patsy Cline, or K.D. Lang, or, that song "Strawberry Wine." Rap bothers me unless it's one of those catch ones that gets lots of radio play. Snoop D-o-double-g is the MAN. Okay, I'm so kidding. But yeah, let's see: Live, Ani DiFranco, Sneaker Pimps, The Postal Service, Our Lady Peace, Yellowcard, Dashboard Confessional, Sondre Lerche, Modest Mouse, G. Love & Special Sauce, Burning Spear, Ben Harper, Catch 22, Coldplay, Counting Crows, Rusted Root, The Libertines...and the list goes on and on and on and on... Special props to The North La Brea All Star Conquistadors and The Four Hundred!

Movies:

Anything directed by Stanley Kubrick, anything with the Brat Pack in it, 16 Candles is the shit. Anything directed by Baz. Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall, (any OTHER movie with Brad Pitt in it, drool.) Moulin Rouge, Ginger Snaps, The Saw, Donnie Darko (the best movie ever.) Alice in Wonderland, Memento, Shrek 1 & 2, Crime 101 (released in New Zealand as Scarfies.) The Craft, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and, I'm getting a brain cramp now...time to stop.

Television:

Law & Order: SVU, The Food Network, anime on The Cartoon Network, and Bravo...and sometimes E!

Books:

I like to read. I have been reading a lot lately. Not any heady novels or anything. But reading is reading and it is keeping my brain from solidifying into a solid mass of stupidity.

Heroes:

None.

My Blog

Musings on a sunset.

How's that for a pseudo-intellectual subject line? But seriously, I just got in touch with my inner child again while on vacation. I've always prided myself on being child-like, as opposed to child-is...
