..Born and raised in South Africa, 22 year old Yuven known as "Sankofa" emigrated to Miami, FL in December 2003 to attended college at the University of Miami and prusue his dream to be a "Spoken Word Rapper". Sankofa recieved a full scholarship to attend the University of Miami where he is currently majoring in "Political Science" and minoring in "Social Justice". Being in Miami for 3 1/2 years he has become Americanized but still knows his "Roots". With South African and East Indian hertiage he knows much about American culture. His songs reflects what is going on in his hometown Durban, South Africa and much of whats going on in America. He speaks about world issues such as poverty, racism, bigotry, and volience among black communties. "I am not a commerical rapper, I am one who is very unique and I look at myself as a world leader, one who speaks out to those in need." Sanfoka speaks two languages English and Zulu as you can hear on many of his songs he tends to veer off and spit english then zulu. He writes and produces his own music, which makes him a true artist. Sanfoka spends much of his time reading and writing poetry. He attends various events in the community and has performed at several of Miami's festivals.
