About Me

A conscious individual that has been lyrically blessed is the most fitting label for Righteous Young Poet, better known as RYP (pronounced rip). Since the age of 13, RYP has been pushing his talent from the streets of Port Gibson, Mississippi to the valleys of Alabama (Montgomery, and Auburn). The young artist has already recorded two albums and has a host of other ventures to soon debut in conjunction with AlaMiss World Wide Entertainment. Currently he is the driving force towards the companys success. Headed by three cousins, AlaMiss is destined to become a force in the entertainment industry. The vision of the company derives from the soulful, southern roots of the close-knit family. His genes are linked to one of the first black elected official in Mississippi. This special connection compels RYP to be aware of the history of his people. He not only expresses his thoughts about the streets but he blends politics, worldly issues, and history in his lyrics. RYP has the talent and hunger to reach all classes of the hip-hop generation. While RYP is awaiting his well-deserved superstar status, he is no stranger to the stage. Some of his major moments as an artist were opening for Crooked Lettaz, Trick Daddy and UGK. Still, the humble man he is, he credits performing for an Augusta radio station with his mom present as the best moment in his career to date. His lyrical inspiration comes from his maker. RYP acknowledges his gift as heaven sent. Before the concept of AlaMiss World Wide Entertainment was created, RYP was attending Jackson State University. He experienced tough times during his stint and after two years at the historically black University, RYP moved on with a greater understanding of his personal journey. His pursuit of knowledge did not end with incompletion at Jackson State. After joining the workforce RYP decided it was time for a change. He packed up and moved to Tallahassee where his cousin Rickey was finishing up at Florida A&M University. From there he took his journey onto Orlando, Fl where he currently resides. In September of 06, RYP will graduate from the No. 1 audio engineering school in the country with a concentration in entertainment business.RYP speaks a universal language that traces back to the role his family has played in his life. He recognizes his grandfather as a positive guiding force in his life. He believed in me and has invested in me, says RYP of the vital role his grandfather has played in his development. RYPs work ethic can directly be attributed to his father. He articulates nothing but gratitude when he speaks of his mother and father and the values they worked hard to instill in him. In the studio, RYP is starving. His hunger is possessed and is strongly supported by an equally eager team in his two cousins, Rickey Coleman and Omari Terry who are Co-CEOs of AlaMiss World Wide Entertainment. AlaMiss World Wide Entertainment is driven by southern culture and tradition. The dynamics of their music is derived from the Blues, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Negro Spirituals, Gospel, and other soulful sounds. Even in its beginnings, the company already plans to use its popularity to make a positive effect in the community. Rickey explains, "We want to be able to give back, make a difference; I know that sounds cliché, but not just rap about whats going on but to actually get out there and push for some change."RYP is the cornerstone of the AlaMiss W.W.E. His undeniable talent, intellectual wit, and genuine passion for real music are the perfect combination for him to be reached World Wide! For booking call:850-591-1124Get Your Own! | View Slideshow
