About Me

I'm married to a fabulous lady and have a beautiful daughter. I'm 42, never thought I'd get here. Just like I never thought that I'd see the New York Dolls. But here I am and I've seen them. I can still skateboard and music still gets my heart beating a little faster. I work in radio and teach audio engineering. Live in Buckinghamshire but want to move back to my home county of Cornwall, my wife loves it and it has good skateboarding! Radio needs me there I think.

My Interests

Music, family, skateboarding, music, music, reading, radio, music, art, music, film...... um did I mention music there?

I'd like to meet:

Skateboarding punk rockers who realise that punk doesn't mean living in 1977 and mutilating your face with bits of metal. It's more punk to direct others to live their own lives in a caring and loving manner. Also anyone who can help me realise my dream of presenting a radio show with a hugely eclectic mix of music, and make documentaries about obscure post punk record labels.

Music:

Love it. From Malcolm Arnold to Plasticines, Robert Johnson to The Aphex Twin, My Elvis Blackout to Judee Sill. The last few albums that I bought were, The Good The Bad And The Queen, Paris 1919 by John Cale, At War With The Mystics by The Flaming Lips, Home And Away by Del Shannon, Ys by Joanna Newsom, and a Frank Zappa box set. Is that an eclectic enough list for you? Also listen obsessively to the radio 1 Unsigned podcast. Currently grooving to, surprisingly, the new Prince album and The White Stripes Icky Thump, and Bob Dylan's theme time radio hour on 6 Music.

Movies:

Apocolypse Now, Citizen Kane, The Life of Brian, Spinal Tap, Repo Man, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Nosferatu (the original),any old hammer horror films, Ken Loach, Kes, The Lonliness of the Long Distance Runner, The Pirates of the Carribean, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Dumbo, again an eclectic enough mix?

Television:

Good band them. Music programmes surprisingly. Later, The Culture Show, Father Ted, Dad's Army, Top Gear, Blackadder,Never Mind The Buzzcocks

Books:

Iain Banks - Espedair Street, The Wasp Factory, any of his really. Graham Green, Mary Shelley, Ian McKewan, Emily Bronte, how are you supposed to choose just a few favourites? Music biography of course, Greil Marcus, Nick Tosches, Barry Miles, I could go on all day/

Heroes:

John Peel, Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, John Lydon, Mark Radcliffe, Annie Nightingale, Iain Banks, David Attenborough, Billy Bragg

My Blog

Virgin Blog

Well how about this. My first ever blog entry. I've finally joined the 21st century mode of communication. The sun is shining outside, I have a frog in my throat and can't decide where I want to live....
