Chillin

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting /pVictor Manuel Leon, otherwise known as Chillin, was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on July 12, 1979. His parents blessed him with seven brothers and, with his wife and children he now resides in Trujillo Alto, following the ‘853’ street that runs through the area.
Chillin was introduced to the reggaeton / hip-hop environment at a young age. When he was still a teenager, he saw influences, like Eddie Dee, in his hood rapping and flowing to hip hop beats in the streets and in live rap ‘battles’. Back in the day, when albums like Playero 37, The Noise 1, and other ‘underground’ compilations were released, Chillin realized that he had the ambition to sing and perform. With not even 15 years of age, Chillin began to perform in local community shows and exposing himself to the limelight.
However, at age 15, personal situations drove Chillin to Palm Bay, Florida, where he resided for approximately one year. When he arrived to Florida, he came armed with the most recent ‘underground’ music that was out in Puerto Rico and not surprisingly, he won the sympathy and respect of others in the area. In Florida, he also exposed himself to the spotlight by performing in parties with other friends and making himself known in the area.
At age 16, Chillin came back to his island, more mature and focused on his goals in the music industry. Soon thereafter, he meets Danny in his neighborhood, with whom he had automatic chemistry, and immediately start working as a duo and performing in shows together.
In 2005, with the support of DJ Nelson’s, Flow Music Corp., and DJ Memo, who was producing the first Reggaeton album composed strictly of new talent, Chillin appeared in the album “Los Elegidos” with the song, “Acelera,” and did the music video for the song as well. He also appeared in Flow Music’s “El Jangueo,” with another of his songs, “Bien Chillin.” This type of exposure gave Chillin the opportunity to meet with another notorious reggaeton producer, Naldo, who gave him and Danny the opportunity to appear in what turned out to be the ..1 album in the Billboards, “Sangre Nueva,” with sort of like a ballad styled song.
Also in 2005 and during his collaborating work with Flow Music, Chillin meets Alejandro Felix, artistically known as Get Low, with whom he also had immediate chemistry. With Get Low, Chillin appeared in DJ Sonic’s, “Los Abusadores,” with the hit “Golosinas,” which also included a music video to their song. Although Get Low and Chillin worked as solo artists, a spark grew when they both worked together, as their individual style complemented the style of the other. Their friendship grew very tight, as they worked day and night and shared ideas and collaborated on each other’s songs.
When things could not seem any better, tragedy struck Chillin and the Flow Music family. On October 9, 2005, Get Low was brutally murdered in Santurce, Puerto Rico. This unfortunate event obviously struck Chillin very hard, as he found himself without the person that he and many others considered his artistic partner. Before Get Low’s death, they were able to produce a series of tracks that have not been released yet.
After Get Low’s death, Chillin had little time to be sad or depressed, because as a proud parent of three, he knew he had to work and keep producing music to make a living. His hard work paid off, as he wrote songs that made it to albums, like DJ Memo’s “La Revolucion,”; “One Team Music Da Hitmakers; “Mundo Demente”; and “El Mundo es Nuestro”, which are all up and coming productions to be released in 2006.
Chillin is now working with his friends from ‘853’, where he resides. Being childhood friends and being very motivated to work in the music industry, they all combined their styles and voices to make songs with a whole different flow than what is normally heard. Chillin’s charisma and positive energy keep his hardcore, rough flow alive and it is because of his humble way of being that Chillin will be successful in anything he does.Created with mySpace Profile Editor
