I am here for Friends

About Me

I am something of a gearhead. I tinker with airplanes and fly them when I can. I have had the privilege, as an FAA licensed mechanic, to work on everything from biplanes to helicopters to state of the art airliners. One of my dreams has been to have my own private airstrip, and for the past few years I have spent all of my spare time building one on the family farm. Through all of the equipment breakdowns, weather delays and various other obstacles I am nearing completion of the "North Forty" airstrip. Despite the setbacks it has been a labor of love and on June 8, John G. landed his beautiful American Champian, Scout. Once I have the airstrip finished I will post the coordinates with specs. and welcome anyone to drop in and visit.

My Interests

Anything with wings or wheels powered by an internal combustion engine. The sound of a well played Gibson guitar being pumped through a Marshall full stack with the amp turned up to 11! I love to weld and fabricate. Among my many projects I have a wrecked Cub I'm rebuilding from the ground up. The fuselage had to be scraped and I am building a new one from factory PA-18 blueprints.

I'd like to meet:

Burt Rutan, Chip Foose, Les Paul, Nikki Lauda, Mario Andretti, Olivia DeBardinis, Milla Jovovich.

Music:

I realy like the alternative and college/garage band scene. I must say, however, my rock roots began with the motor city madman himself, Mr.Ted Nugent! After all Samy Haggar said it best when he referred to Ted as "The primal god of the electric guitar". I would rather eat dirt than listen to country or rap. The following bands you may or may not have heard of, but they have left an impression on me. Eagles of Death Metal(not a metal band!), Tuesday's Waiting, Road Trip, Cowboy Mouth.

Movies:

action, comedy, psychological thrillers, and of course,"Bond, James Bond"

Television:

Discovery Channel, TLC, Travel Channel, History Channel, Speed Channel, Anything that teaches me something.

Books:

Rarely read fiction. I like world history, military history, science, archeology, cryptozoology, biographies, engineering, aviation. No Steven King...still scared from a book of his I read 20 years ago.

Heroes:

Ted Nugent, Burt Rutan, Col. "Bull" Simons, Howard Hughes, Jon Ada (because I can't surf), Bob Hoover (look him up),"Bushy", Jesse Hughes.
