Art, more art. Um, did I say art? I have been doing a continuing performance art work called "Hypermerica" at www.youtube.com/DavidBrianDobbs. It is a work comprised of many small performance art works that will continue to change and grow. I put some of the videos here on Myspace, but the majority are there. Here's a new one!I am also back in school this fall and will be working a lot in the metal shop, building more sculptures, and probably some props for future performance pieces. Art and music, that's pretty much it for me.
Other artists mostly, I love sharing ideas and collaborating, but will definately show some love to good bands. I am not a musician, but I love music and try to support the music I love as much as possible. I would also like to meet the "one". Whoever that is.
I am currently being entranced by Camille, I am still listening to her music daily. I love so many different types of music. So much, how can I fit it all in...Skinny Puppy, NIN, Front 242, Clan of Xymox, New Order, Delerium, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Creatures, Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, The Cure, Joy Division, The Orb, Lords of Acid, The Dead Milkmen, The Pogues, Reverend Horten Heat, Squirrel Nut Zippers, PIXIES, They Might be Giants, Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Marvin Gaye, Beastie Boys, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Dead Can Dance, Lush, Sisters of Mercy, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Man or Astroman, Lightning Hopkins, Buddy Holly, Fifteen, Ladytron, Sing-Sing, Nirvana, Propaghandi, The Beatles, Man or Astro-man?, Charlie Parker, The Queers, Lee Scratch Perry, KMFDM, Bjork, The Sugarcubes, The Velvet Underground, Bob Marley, Elvis, Sinéad O'Connor, Tori Amos, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Einstürzende Neubauten, Savage Oral Hotbed...and the artist I have listened to the most and the longest.....Weird Al. 7 years old I was when I bought my first Weird Al tape. The first music I ever spent money on. I love all kinds of music and would love to hear more! My roommate says I have an eclectic taste in music.
Um, did you see the Simpsons yet? NO?! What the hell is wrong with you? Go see it right now. Laugh your ass off. It's good for the soul.
I'll watch anything once, but in my opinion most tv is crap. The few shows I watch I am devoted to though such as Kojak, The Simpsons, 24, Lost, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Brothers, and my favorite show right now is Ghost Hunters. Either everything on that show is made up, or they have caught some amazing stuff on camera.
I have another youtube channel just for video logs, book reviews and such. www.Youtube.com/Davesghola Check it out. Some of my favorite books that I would recommend to anyone are the Tao Te Ching, Ulysses (James Joyce), Trainspotting (Irvine Welsh), American Psycho (Brett Easton Ellis), The Trial (Franz Kafka), The Plague (Camus), The Diamond Age (Neil Stephanson), The Great and Secret Show (Clive Barker), 1984 (Orwell), Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury), American Gods (Neil Gaiman) and of course Dune. Lots of other books in the series are good, the Dune Legends series was really good, The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade, and the Battle of Corin, were all great and Heretics of Dune was good too, but I think everyone should at least read Dune. That is the one thing about science fiction I like, is that it can easily provide metaphors for current events. Dune is just as relevent to today's events as it was 40 years ago when it was written.
Remember them.
