Dancing, music, fashion, tattoos, peircings, and laying out underneath the sky gazing at the stars. I enjoy playing the musical bong instrument, spending quality time with my true friends, hair cuts and color, more dancing and having fun as much as possible. More tattoos and peircings (never can get enough), laughing, crystals, smoking kind, listening to music always, of course some more dancing, and living life. I'm completely free-spirited, all about being open-minded and open-hearted......did I mention I love my friends, music and dancing (especially all three combined)?
I love classic beauty, vintage clothing and vintage furniture too. I love setting trends, not following them. I love antique stores and consignment shops, and at the same time I love White House Black Market, Anthropologie and BeBe.
TRUE FASHION NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE!!!
Absolutely everyone and nobody all at once!!! Clever, huh? Is that possible to acheive? That is my goal!!!
...the stars (as in actual celestials), how awesome that could be just to hang out in the sky and shine......
Common, MosDef, Talib Kweli (just to pick their brains).......Johnny Depp just to hear him speak, he's fascinatingly intelligent and Angelina Jolie because she is one of the most positive role models in ShowBusiness right now, she really is making an effort to help change the world and make a difference.....
Alphonse Mucha, Salvador Dali, and Michael Parkes...all brilliant, highly creative, and incredibly talented artists.....
and people who share my passions (any of them, I have a plenty)......
It means everything to me, next to dancing. It takes me to a place I can't even begin to put in to words. The feeling I get is higher above and beyond a cloud. Music is my love. Music moves me. It helps me convey my thoughts and feelings without ever saying them myself, which I suppose for all it's the same in the end. I listen to a little bit of everything, except the dreaded twang.....
Music should be able to move you, if it doesn't then it doesn't qualify as true music!!! Then it's just a bunch of beats and noises with horrible vocals on top of it to make high volumes of money on low quality garbage....then you end up with something like say "POP" music!!! But, I really must say that the U.K. has it on lock down as far as music is concerned....
I love the sound of fast double bass drums and intense guitar rifts. I listen to everything from Jazzanova, Johnny Cash, Frou Frou, to Coldplay, and HIM. I love Imogen Heap and Death Cab for Cutie, The Gorillaz to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Then of course there's Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, and Damien Rice for when I'm in one of those moods, I mean after all I am still a girl.... ; )
I adore Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and believe that Bob Marley's soul forever burns on. Of course then there's G.Love, Ben Harper and Jack Johnson. Then you have Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Blackalicious, Digable Planets, The Pharcyde, Dialeted Peoples, Ugly Duckling and I am in awe of Jurassic 5. I will always rock my Face to Face, NoFx, Guttermouth, AFI, No Use For a Name, Blink182 (don't hate, Travis Barker is the man, what an incredible drummer!), OpIvy, Lagwagon, and Propagandhi.....I even like some of the newer groups out there now: My Chemical Romace, Rise Against, The Used, Finch, Thrice, and so forth and so on. All the way back around to chillin and listening to Blackstarr (which if you're reading this I hope you know who they were and now are) and Gangstarr. MosDef, Talib, and then there's Common, whom is a true inspiration and poet (and so is Tupac if you want to go there) and now Kanye.
I love Dean Martin and of course Frankie Sinatra and Bobby Darren. When it's time to wind down some Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Greyboy All-Stars, Martin, Medeski and Wood, Herbie Hancock, John Zorn, Charles Mingus, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Richie Hawtin.
I really dig down-tempo experimental, acid jazz, jazz fusion. I love old, old school breaks, fresh beat droppin NuSchool, I totally dig some funky and tribal house. Deep, dark and dirty D&B and of course the beautiful sounds of Intellibeat, but I am not completely restricted to any of it!!! If it has a beat, a melody or a harmony that sounds good I'm hooked! I'm a sucker for music....
I have much respect for DJ Shadow, Krush, Coldcut, and TC (Theivery Corporation). Then there's Artful Dodger, MJ Cole, LTJ Bukem, Klute and Hyper. Not to mention Deep Dish, BT, Hybrid, The Breakfastaz and even the old school ISP (invisibl skratch pikelz). Mark Farina, Luke Fair, Kaskade, Satoshie Tomiie, and FischerSpooner. I am always happy to come across any white labels. Then there is everyone and anything off of Yoshitoshi, OM, Killowatt and Breakbeat Science record labels.
I can't even begin to go on anymore. If I named everything I listened to I would use up my whole page and my fingers would fall off from to much typing. Trust me, I'm resisting the urge to list them all...I love music.
It doesn't begin or end with one genre for me, I'm highly eclectic. I use to play the piano and would die to learn to play the drums (they're my favorite). I support all my locals and listen to them whenever I have the chance; Christina Wagner, Aerial Tribe, and Batsauce from Jax., The Supervillians and Junkie Rush in Orlando, all the way down to The Midnite Band from St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. I love music....period!!! Support your locals, wether solo artists, bands or dj!!!
Ah...movies. Love em'!!!
I love movies as well, shocking I know, but never the less true. I'm in total love with dark comedies...they're the best, probably because they just remind that art really is influenced by life.
Not to big on the VortexBox...
When I do get sucked in perhaps sneak in some late night stuff...love some AdultSwim. Family Guy (of course), Futurama, Venture Brothers, Aqua Teen Hunger Force...you know...all that jazz...
Other then that I watch IFC, Bravo, A & E, and FX...I love me some Nip/Tuck, Inside the Actors Studio, Miami Ink, and let us not forget DOG the Bounty Hunter!!!
I dig Discovery, The National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet, and The History Channel....inside secret.....I'm a dork! Ok, so it's not that much of an inside secret if you really know me, but if you really know me would know that I actually love to learn things and asorb endless amounts of information...
And let us not forget...KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!
I read anything that isn't a waste of time.
You know the stuff I speak of...say trashy romance novels, stupid sci-fi, horrible girl tear jerkers...I'm looking for a plot, characters, or perhaps a real life story...
My grandmother...although she doesn't know, probably because I've never told her. She is defintely where I get my loyalty and stubborness traits from...But without her I don't know where I would be. I love her so much...even though she drives me crazy!
And my best friend Heather. Reminding all the time I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, I just have to want it. Motivating me and being a consistent reminder that I can be who I am and that who I am is just fucking fine!!! She pushes me to be more and makes me a better person...without her I don't know who I might have killed by now. I'm the ying and she is my yang...FOREVER!!!
George Balanchine, Suzanne Farrell, Martha Graham, Mr. Fosse himself, and many other choroegraphers and dancers that you probably wouldn't know...so I'm not going to bother to list...
