Also, i like movies that have little or no samurai in them, such as City of God, Amelie, Holy Mountain, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Brazil, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, and Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, just to name a few.

I like to read Basho from time to time. also, James Clavell's "Shogun" is pretty sweet. i read more comic books than anything: Cerebus, Lone Wolf and Cub, Dark Knight Returns, Akira graphic novel. Recently read 100% and was blown away.
Heroes:
Warriors of Light and Love. Breathers of Truth and Wisdom. Anyone who has accomplished anything through their own means...kudos to you.
