funk U

funk U is a road-block funk night based at the legendary Cafe Opera in Bergen on the West coast of Norway. The night, hosted by Sam Francisco, began in January 2006 and became an instant success. It never fails to surprise with guest DJs, live musicians, videos and breakers. Our residents include Sam (Root Diggaz UK), Tarjei (Dobbel Mono & Root Diggaz), Michael (AUS) on baritone sax and Carïo (Dobbel Mono & Strawberry Sadness), Brother Culture (UK) and Simen Schøien (Dobbel Mono) on vocals. In the coming year we are hoping to host, amongst others, DJ Format and bonobo and see the return of previous guests Kris (Soul Jazz Records) and Andy Smith (Dynamo Productions/Document/Lost and Found). funk U is also playing at Favela Chic near Old Street in London and at Notodden Blues Festival in Telemark.
