I am here for Friends

About Me

well, let's see: I'm kind, open, caring and warm but if I seem seem distant or vague, that's because I'm also a little shy (or I just might be too polite to tell you that you scare me a little bit) I love life and I love laughing. I am a geek because geeks have the most fun.
I hearken back to the good old days of LJ when you needed a code to sign up. yea. myspace is like LJ on crack... I'm still more interested in the whole blogging thing than I am the "gotta meet as many people as possible, friend them all, and be popular on myspace so that I can be all like 'I'm wonderful cuz I gots like a bazillion friends and everybody knows I am teh awesomest'"...thing. ...not that having lots of friends is stoopid, it just shouldn't be a contest. or a number game (thus no top 8 stuff w/me either)
as far as friends go, the more the merrier but I'm not here for hooking up. just here to say hi really, look around, enjoy the sights and sounds ...that sort of thing. anything else about me will be upstairs in the blog department.

My Interests

music, sharp pointy things and how to use them (ie kendo and iaido), motorcycles, painting, chemistry, Japanese lit and culture, classic lit. stained glass, scrapbooking, rocks...(no seriously, geology is neat)...and other random stuff

I'd like to meet:

anyone, everyone.

Music:

erm, lets just call it eclectic.
Rock, alternative, dance, classical, jazz...not that much of a hip hop fan, no rap (unless physically restrained and forced to listen)(unless it's actually good)(then if you try really hard you might catch me listening...but don't tell anyone k? ruins the whole rock persona thing)

Movies:

I Like actions, creepy/odd/mindtwister movies, classic horror flicks, fucked up love stories, and war movies best.... lately, just plain weird and/or cult movies...with the occasional 'romantic comedy' thrown in for no real good reason

Television:

I don't have cable, so I usually bum tv time from loved ones or buy the series on dvd: most of the true crime stuff on court TV, CSI, Heroes, Jericho, Lost, House, Robot Chicken, adult swim now and again...The Daily show and Colbert Report if I can catch them...
Off air but still well loved: the Highlander, Angel, Dark Angel, Farscape, The Muppets, Dionsaurs, x-files

Books:

~right this moment:
Still tackling the Last Best Place (anthology of Montana...and I think I will be reading it a page or two at a time until I die!) Skinny Legs And All...which will most likely be followed by everything else Tom Robbins. Zen Guitar
~ a littlewhile ago:
Gene Wolfe~ The Wizard (preceded by The Knight),Dumb But Lucky (WWII vet writes about being a pilot. good book!), Kamikaze (I was on a WWII kick) and Witches Abroad. by the light of the moon (surprizingly good nonhoror from Dean Koontz)..George R.R. Martin's latest, um, the last of the sword of truth novels I'll ever read...The color of distance (read this book!) Threshold (bah...some good ideas, but mostly romance in the guise of fantasy...hoodwinked again! (but it wasn't as bad as that 'vampire' one that had the 'romance' on the cover neatly hidden...holy hell that one was terrible) dictionary of the Khazars (loved loved loved it) mrs Dalloway (hate hate hated it...but can't seem to stop relating things to it.)and The Book of Lists 3

Heroes:

I am too jaded to have heroes! *chortle* My grandmother ~for her heart of gold.
Other than that, I idolize few but take inspiration from many. (take it like a thief in the night and run! mu-ha-ha-haaaa!) big inspirations: Nikola Tesla, Piet Hein...oh yeah, Tom Robbins (because I love his writing) and Bob Ross (because we're all just happy little accidents)
musically: bass gods Steve Harris and Geddy Lee

Did I really wake up to Willie Nelson singing "crazy" instead of Patsy Cline?

Does such a recording really exist, or was I in too deep a sleep state to be hearing correctly? there have been occasions when the sunday morning stories end up as technicolor dreams that seem to spa...

note to self:

Self, please do not fall back asleep while running the morning bath. and no, it does not count as washing the floor even though it looks cleaner.
