About Me

I discovered progressive rock by accident one day at a party. It was all so innocent. Somebody started passing some prog around, and after I had some beers I was easy prey. They offered the prog to me freely, but then once I was hooked they swarmed on me like vultures.I have spent most of my money on prog now. I am an addict.I need help.

My Interests

Music, generally. All of it. Except the bad music. Of which there is lots out there. but if it's not bad music, then I like it. Unless it's kind of mediocre. Not big on mediocre music either. There's lots of that. Actually face it, I'm a music snob. But I know what I like. And I like cheese.

I'd like to meet:

Roger Waters. God. But not necessarily today. Or tomorrow.

Music:

Fish, Wes, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Steve Wilson, Rush, Yes, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, The Box, Spock's Beard, Loreena McKennitt,and a whole bunch more. Oh, Marianne Faithful, she's cool. Melissa Etheridge, Mazzy Star; Vienna Teng; Women with ballsy vocals. Did I mention the cowboy junkies? Oh, and I just discovered Cat Power. Shawn Colvin. Joni, of course, goes without saying. Thanks Kat. And Sophie Milman is very, very cool and classy.

Television:

Currently: The Sopranos (RIP); Deadwood (RIP); Huff (RIP); 24(Jumped Shark) ; Prison Break . Lost. Rome (RIP). Big Love; Californication

Books:

Too many to mention. Currently I love Mark Helprin (Soldier of the Great War) . John Irving A Prayer for Owen Meany; Cider House Rules (the bestest). Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Crime and Punishment) . Boris Akunin; That dude who wrote Kite Runner and A thousand Splendid Suns.; Umberto Eco. Early Stephen King;

Heroes:

All those who find themselves on the violent end of madness, and yet pull through

Fate

I mentioned in a blog almost exactly a year ago (Apr.1, 2007) that "my muses were tickled." And that I had an idea for a short story. That I had specifically a scene in mind and I finished by saying: ...

The Fine Art of Doing Nothing

A few blogs ago (as if time is measured as such) I talked about going for job interviews and having to answer the "what is your worst quality?" question. To which I should have answered "laziness." &n...
