Planet X Winter Games - On Channel Nine from 26th August 2007

About Me

Introducing…..The ¼ Pipe Tow-in – A WORLD FIRST EVENT. Planet X will be using a high-powered winch system to accelerate riders into a specially designed Quarter Pipe. This winch system has never been used before on snow and is the same system used earlier this year at the Planet X Summer Games where the world's largest land-based Wakeboarding course was set up on St Kilda Beach.
Competitors in the ¼ pipe tow-in will accelerate up to 60km/h before hitting a 4m high wall of snow that launches them into the air – where they will attempt to pull off some of their very best freestyle tricks in front of a panel of expert judges. Using this new winch system means riders will gain maximum speed in a very short distance, allowing the course to be set-up right at the base of Front Valley in Perisher Blue, where spectators can get up-close-and-personal to the action.
The Braun CruZer3 Rail Jam – with a UNIQUE JUDGING TWIST. This year the rail jam will take place inside Perisher Blue’s Terrain park where 2 of the best snowboarders and 2 of the best skiers will go head to head to see which sport jams the best across the features in the challenging park. For the first time, the winner of this contest will be judged by the general public with a quest to end the long standing feud over which sport dominates this area, snowboarding or skiing?
You can check out the Video's here but to vote you need to log on to www.planetx.com.au Voting closes on September 30th 2007, and the winner will be announced online. Just by voing you also go into the draw to win a brand new snowboard thanks to Braun CruZer3.

Back Country Huck and Chuck - Competitors will be transported to a back country location aptly named “Paralyser”, here they will ‘Huck’ or hike up to the top of the run and then ‘Chuck’ or ride of the cliff edge and perform a number of aerial manoeuvres before landing. This is a test of courage & endurance as well as freestyle skill.
As one of Australia’s top freestyle snow sports events, organizers of the Planet X Winter Games are constantly attempting to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of action sports on snow, this year the three brand new contest formats are touted to provide the perfect conditions to ignite some of the best freestyle ski and snowboard action our country has seen to date.
This year the Planet X Winter Games will be an invitational event only with a carefully selected field of 12 world class athletes across Freeride Ski and Snowboard who will compete for their slice of the $25,000 prize pool and of course, the coveted Planet X Gold Medal.
Once again expect a hot line up of acts to perform at the Station Resort in Jindabyne on Saturday August 11th 2007, to celebrate the return of the Planet X Winter Games. The show, presented by MP3.com.au, includes power rockers, MAMMAL, whose debut EP (out through MGM) just entered the AIR Charts at number 18!
The Planet X Winter Games will be broadcast on Channel Nine (commencing August 26th 2007 at 1.30pm), Fuel TV, Fox Sports and TVNZ.
