Luthiery, acting, singing, sound production & design, turtles (not live ones, although to have one would be pretty cool), graphic novels, movies, Eddie Izzard, replacing my extensive and bulky video collection with DVDs, leafing through the Full Compass catalog and dreaming, plays, musicals. I also really like cats, in case you couldn't tell.
This account is primarily for people I already know, but I suppose if you think you and I have things in common it woudn't hurt to contact me.
All sorts o'crap except most rap (which, if you notice, is 'crap' without the 'c') and some country-western. I am currently on an EXTREMELY heavy kick, listening to a lot of groups I haven't really touched on in a long time such as Godflesh, Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon, Death, and the like; curiously, however, these seem to be mixed into my preferences with older pop stuff from James Taylor, KC and the Sunshine Band, Hot Chocolate, and, of all people, Simon and Garfunkel. Let me know if you too feel this is a sign of the Apocalypse.
Grosse Pointe Blank, Garden State, The Big Chill, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Office Space, Swingers, Just Friends, Unforgiven, Reservoir Dogs, Exorcist & Exorcist III (because II and 'the Beginning', frankly, sucked ass), Someone Like You (yeah, I know, shut up), Batman Begins, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mystic River, Sneakers, The Mask of Zorro, Scream, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Liar Liar, Just Friends, Payback, Collateral, Ray, Men in Black, Starship Troopers, Forrest Gump, Finding Nemo, The 'Burbs, Fallen, Rosemary's Baby, Falling Down, In the Line of Fire, any GOOD videorecordings or movie translations of Broadway musicals (the movies of which there are VERY, very few), wayyyyyyy too many more to list
Uh, lessee, South Park, Black Adder, Friends, Fawlty Towers, ER, Simpsons, House, Law & Order (primarily the original, though SVU isn't bad, don't really like Criminal Intent that much), PBS Great Performances, strange addiction to nature shows for some reason, Monty Python, been watching a lot of King of Queens lately though I still wouldn't count it as a favorite, Mad About You, Kids in the Hall, The State
Pretty much anything by Neal Stephenson (I'm on Quicksilver at the moment, though Zodiac and Snow Crash are my favorites), some Stephen King, Richard Wright is friggin' fantastic (check out Native Son and Uncle Tom's Children, but be prepared, they ain't pretty), 2355 Days (written by my uncle who was a POW in Viet Nam for close to six and a half years, again not pretty but absolutely riveting), the Narnia series, the Hitchiker's Guide series, Jennifer Weiner books (my sister is listed in the acknowledgements of her latest one -- isn't that cool?), "The New Yorker" magazine (when I actually have TIME to read it) (that's actual time, not TIME magazine)
Bill Irwin, Bill Clinton, Bill Bixby (original "Incredible Hulk" series, NOT the movie, thank you), Kevin Kline, Barack Obama, John Cusack, George Hearn, Johnny Depp (weirdo though he may be, he is in my opinion a fine actor), Gary Sinise, John Stewart, Stephen Sondheim
