Four Hours Sleep

About Me

The core of Four Hours Sleep first played together at a private function in 1978.The combination of Bill's pretentious teenage prog rock, art rock, jazz rock via 3XY bass lines,Peter's proto funk,Faces, and straight outta Mentone rock n' roll, and Dan's weird detached atonality was too wrong for the times and the performance suffered.Dan temporarily abandoned the guitar and returned to his studies, commencing kindergarten the following year.Bill and Peter went their separate ways:Bill totally reconstructing himself musically and physically, after being exposed to James Blood Ulmer, the No Wave movement,Remain in Light,My life in the Bush of Ghosts, and an immovable object;Peter going on the road and becoming the rock that he is.They reconnected, with the other crucial member of the 4HS team,Stehen,in 1982 for some touring and late night shows at venues now long gone ,but it wasn't until over a decade and countless individual experiences later that the 4 core members came together again in the"Silverhair" band that played some exploratory and chaotic shows at the Espy.It became clear that although the combination may not have been a perfect vehicle for all of the songs all of the time,it would be right for some of the songs some of the time.So began Four Hours Sleep, operating alongside all our own individual careers, with no agenda,no time line and no quarter.Made by people who know what they're doing and what they've done and daring to be experienced. 2 albums so far:"More of Her"almost impossible to find, except maybe through here, and "Love Specifics""LOVE SPECIFICS could be the years best pop record. Its a wonderful trip" Jeff Jenkins (Inpress, ABC Radio)
