Arty Kid
Whether you were a drama freak or an emo poet, you definitely were expressive and unique.
You're probably a little less weird these days - but even more talented!
Who Were You In High School?
Astrud Gilberto, Stereolab, Bela Fleck, Beastie Boys, The Zombies, Belle and Sebastian, Black Uhuru, Brand New Heavies, Cake, The Cars, The Clash, David Byrne, Deee-Lite, Annie Lenox, G. Love & Special Sauce, The Hackensaw Boys, Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Komeda, Little Feat, The Allman Brothers, Lush, Velvet Underground, Moby, Parliment, Peter Tosh, The Police, old Prince, Squirrel Nuts Zippers, Steely Dan, Peter Tosh, Sugarcubes, Talking Heads, The Sundays, Violent Femmes, XTC, Elvis Costello... See a pattern? Me neither. I like to listen to music that either amplifies or counters my current mood.
Some of my all time favorites... Fargo, Rosemary's Baby, The Jerk, The Ice Storm, the Kill Bill's, Swingers, Memento. I like to laugh out loud, cringe in discomfort, feel challenged, or deeply saddened by a movie. Recent favorite: Doctor Zhivago
I like offbeat humor, quirky points of view, and watch a lot of IFC and Sundance channels. Lost is my favorite show in network television, but I usually just DVR interesting things and watch them when I'm in the mood - so that the TV is my slave and not vice versa.
Some of my favorite books of the past couple years have been by Jeffrey Eugenides, Haruki Murakami, Nick Hornby, and short stories by David Sedaris. Most of my best recommendations come from the my book club girls, and other friends whose taste I trust. I also love books like PostSecret and Found. I like to read a random selection, and have found many of my favorites at thrift stores. I'll take a $1 chance on anything that looks fun or interesting.
