About Me

Matt Dyson saw the light of day on the 3rd September 1983. Born in Chester just outside Liverpool it was inevitable that an interest for electronic music would be inspired by the great Paul Oakenfold and his famous residency at Cream. Being an avid clubber and visiting the great superclubs of the euro trance era in the late 90’s Matt began his love affair with vinyl, determined to one day set the main rooms of Gatecrasher, Godskitchen and Cream alight alongside his idols Tiesto, Scott Bond and Paul Van Dyk.As is the case with all DJ’s Matt began spinning at house parties and small events within his local town of Chester, after just two years Matt’s hardwork and determination paid off when his path crossed with an up and coming event based in North Wales called Slide. Matt grasped the opportunity given to him with both hands and nearly took the roof off with his very first live gig, in fact he did so well he was soon to be offered a permanent residency which he has now held for a number of years.Matt soon realised that to get to the very top he not only had to be an excellent DJ but also needed the all round skills, so in late 2002 Matt teamed up with Canadian producer Jean-Luc Wu to began the collaboration Oceans Apart. Together, they have a host of productions and remixes between them. Their latest material brings a blend of new and exciting productions, some of which you may have already heard.Early productions include Wicked Storm 05, this was a track which received a great reaction from the dancefloor back in early 2004, it was re-made and updated for 2005; Matt’s solo production, A Race Against Time, was written for the Thrillseekers album launch at the end of 2005. These tracks only underlined the potential that lay within Matt and successes were soon to follow.Frozen in Time is a powerful track which has been earmarked as the beginning of a bright future for both Matt & Jean-Luc within the production ranks, it was written by Jean-Luc and his original mix is targeted at the more progressive and melodically minded sets. Matt’s very own remix summed up the high energy he displays within his own sets displaying a chunky bassline before launching a massive breakdown designed to blow away the clubber from the dance floor to the ceiling. This track has been such a success with SunQuest from Black Hole Recordings adding to the growing number of admirers before adding his own expertise to the track releasing a stunning remix to complete the package, This looks set to be a big hit on the massive label Bonzai.Matt enjoys progressing his sets in order to give the audience a unique and powerful story of music. His style is aimed at the clubber who loves to dance and get lost in the music - Driving basslines and chunky beats with a distinctive uplifting and euphoric feel mean that the dance floor won’t be standing still. It has already been a great few years for Matt, having played along side some of the biggest name in trance including: Judge Jules, Matt Hardwick, Above & Beyond, Scott Bond, Adam Sheridan, Signum, Hemstock & Jennings, Lange, Alex M.O.R.P.H and more recently Guy Ornadel.2007 and beyond is already developing into an exciting time in Matt’ short career. He has a radio show “HIGHER STATE” which is broadcasted on the internet radio station Pure.FM every 3rd Friday of the month at 9pm (GMT), added to that Matt has begun Co-Promoting his very own Trance and Progressive night called Higher State within his home town of Chester and has already seen the likes of Guy Ornadel and Les Hemstock headline the party. These exciting times are beginning to snowball and his more recent productions, Frozen In Time and Lunar Rhythm have now been signed to the massive Bonzai label, they are due for release in the summer of 2007 and have been penciled in to appear on the labels new album.Matt can only move onwards and upwards and is certainly the man to watch out for over the next few years…My new radio show "HIGHER STAE" starts on the 19th May 2006 on PURE.fm (9pm GMT) The show will air once a month on the 3rd friday of every month, the show will be playing all the best in Trance and Progressive Music from the best trance producers on the planet.

Influences: My main influences with the way I DJ and produce music id have to say was from Paul van Dyk, and Armin Van Buuren, they are two of the best around and always seem to have cutting edge ideas witch as a producer myself can respect greatly. I also get a lot of influence from Sander Van Doorn who has become one of the best talents injected into the scene for a long time. on a more personal note its great to work with the likes of A.M.R, Jean-luc Wu & Rozza on some great material that will be unveiled very soon.
Sounds Like: The way i play in my set's is based around great bassline's and uplifting melodies, im also playing alot of tech stuff these days and love really dirty tracks that just get you really going in a club.
