One of, if not THE most noticeable and unique artist in the Kenyan DJing scene, Jahawi has now extended his reach to Europe and the States.
The responsibility to live up to such a unique first name is big, and Jahawi makes sure no one doubts his ability to deliver. His vibrant and energetic sets, artfully compiled to provide the crowd with their every desire, are famous for their success and long-lasting impression.
Inspired by anything from cuisine to his personal life, his sets have been on many an occassion compared to mind-blowing physical pleasure and 'a true spiritual experience'. Not many can establish such a profound and emotional relationship with a crowd and satisfy them on all levels.
With a mix of soul, originality, kink and natural talent, this young star is practically unstoppable. It seems that he has mastered the art of learning from great artists and outstanding music while maintaining a healthy balance between those inspirations and his own distinctive style.
It is hard to tell what Jahawi will be up to next. Even his closest friends find it difficult to predict his frequently changing location, let alone what he has set out as his new conquest.
One thing is certain - it is well worth keeping an eye (and an ear) on Jahawi.
2008 Update
Well what can i say, this year is already half gone and i feel like it was just yesterday when i was on Diani beach playing at FOAM RUSH 07... And for those who weren't there, what a party that was!! You can check out the pics in the gallery.
I've spent this half of the year cooped up in a studio in London working hard on new music, and all the hard work has payed off resulting in some crazy new tracks coming your way! Be sure to check them out, i'll be updating my player soon. There is also a preview of my new track 'Before I Dream' up, it's a very special track to me and i am currently revamping it a bit. It's been getting great feedback and hopefully it is set to become a massive tune :)
This year saw the inception of Jahawi pres. DIRTY.SEXY.TRIBAL (J.D.S.T) with the first set aired ..lethora's radio show 'A Valley Of House' on DI.fm/electro, in March. The set went down very well with people even moving over from Armin's ASOT radio show which aired at the same time! you can download it from my blog. I carried on to do two more sets for the show, which were also very well recieved, so there will definitely be more to come. J.D.S.T will also become my production alias for my more dirty, electro house stuff, so thats another thing for you to look forward to!
I'll be back in Kenya in July where my good friend and top Kenyan DJ. Mikhail Kuzi and myself plan on throwing the maddest of parties in Nairobi, aptly named 'The JahKuzi Sessions', and yes, there will be jacuzzi's involved! As always the preparations have begun for yet another massive New Years party, back on the lovely Diani beach, Kenya. The usual suspects will be out in force with a mainset by myself, Kuzi and Barney Barrow. More gigs will fall in between so make sure you check back soon as all the details will be going up.
