Born inner-metro, Brooklyn1979 and transported to the stix outside NYC half a decade later, KoBAyASHi has creatively crafted the melodic/chaotic sound of his generation since the mid-90s. He first captured the dusty music from his pops record collection by looping them using the pause button on a shottie home stereo tape deck. Later he added drum-loops by holding down the tape and phono buttons simultaneously and playing breakloop vinyl over the cassette of his manual samples mostly mined from the grooves of avant-garde jazz, funk, soul and rock records from the era preceding his birth or from the foreign stylings of international ensembles. Upon acquiring the MPC2000xl, KoB was able to move away from the predictable patterns of the breakloops and began his legacy as a Mad Percussionist!! His influences span from Wonder to Monk to Ayers to Sly to CoFlow to Bjork to Tjader to Puente to Radiohead to Portishead to Primo to Pete Rock. Such an indiscriminate love of music allows KoB to expand the boundaries of HipHop by introducing the lost sounds of the past to his culture.. ! Today, having relinquished himself to the music, KoB serves as a relentless faucet that pipes the ancient audio magic revived by his musical forefathers from 12deep black vinyl wells of sound, in hopes that it will Saturate the Space Between Souls and Soil Washed Brains.!.
