DragonFly Design Co. was started in April 2005 when in a rush, Ellen Burke was scrambling to find something unique to put in her daughters party bags for her first birthday. Ellen had purchased a designer clip at a small boutique for her daughter but was unable to use it because of her daughters baby fine hair. Ms. Burke then decided that she could improve upon this design and make something special for her daughters party guests. After the party, many of the mothers asked Ellen where she had purchased the hair accessories and where they could get them.By this time Ellen had been practicing making more clips for her daughters favorite outfits. She quickly realized she had a fantastic idea for a very lucrative business, as well as taking this opportunity to have a creative outlet that is so important to many new mothers. Ellen also wanted to encourage other mothers that she knew that had home-based businesses to network with each other sharing a common goal of raising their children, while developing products and services that were suitable for the childrens marketplace.The Burkes daughter Reece began to call her mothers creations Pretty Bugs so that is the name that DragonFly Design Co. christened their first product with. Pretty Bugs Tm creations are perfect for weddings, baptisms, birthdays, Mommy & Me and of course special enough to wear everyday. Our designs and colors fit any girls personality, but if needed custom orders are also taken. DragonFly Design Co. also markets a Birthday Club with a yearly membership that offers a Pretty Bugs Tm design sent to the child monthly with a one of a kind design sent for the month of the child birth.Many of the mothers that Ellen marketed to gave her information regarding durability of her product which is very important when designing for active children. After searching for unique embellishments and the finest ribbon to set Pretty Bugs Tm apart from many other accessory manufacturers, Ellen came up with a perfect formula of durability, comfort, and elegance. DragonFly Design Co. has been featured in the Vogue Bambini Fashion Show in New York City in October of 2005 and in the Jan 06 issue of Vogue Bambini and the Back to School fashion show featuring fall 06 at ENK International. Pretty Bugs Tm. had made it to a New York runway in less than a years time! When asked about her unique business Ellen replied, It is a labor of love to design and manufacture these one of a kind hair accessories for girls. We manufacture using a high quality adhesive that is non-toxic, search for unique embellishments that continue to evolve, and use a no-fray technique for the longevity of this product. Our studio is smoke and pet free. As always, satisfaction is guaranteed. We are proud to see our designs putting smiles on the faces of girls of all ages!
