WHO IS CA$HMERE..??
"With the South holding on to Hip-Hop with an unrelenting grip, New York MCs are going hard to bring the crown back home. Leading the charge is Brooklyn rapper CA$HMERE. Cashmere is one of the most known rap artists out of New York underground in recent years despite not getting the shine most people think he deserves. Born on February, 8th 1980, Tywan Harris is the first of five brothers. Raised mostly by his mother and grandmother in the grimy Linden Plaza Projects in EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN, Cashmere had to overcome adversity throughout his life. Cashmere was exposed to music at an early age by his grandfather who introduced him to Jazz. With legends like Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis coming from the only speakers in the house it was easy for him to develop a passion for music at an early age. At the age of 16, he dropped out of high school because of his involvement in the street life. Unfortunately, he became a victim of the street life when he got shot after a deal went bad but that didn’t stop him from grinding, it actually encouraged him pursue a career in his passion for music. Coming from a hood where the options are either make it out the hood or be a statistic, Cashmere had no choice but to be a leader. He has seen three of his brothers and peers spend more time in jail than home and some of them deceased. He posses a toughness and work ethic that helps him survive in the game. When he first came in the game, he was affiliated with MANHOOD ENTERTAINMENT which he helped make it a household name in the streets of New York City. With his sharp wit and exquisite flow he has been blessed to create hits such as OVA, U OWE IT 2 ME, SPIT IT OUT, THE BROOKLYN ANTHEM, THEY AINT READY, and OOH AHH. Cashmere has appeared on every DJ Kay Slay Mixtapes. His Classic Mixtapes “The Proposal” and “Me and My Music” flooded the streets, along with the singles "Stay Out My Zone”, “Every Ghetto” and “Streets Ain’t Right”. He has appeared on every major Mixtape for the last two years. With his latest offering The Proposal Pt. 2 flooding the streets, along with the singles “So Special" and "The Game", Cash reveals "I want to bring excitement to the game, because everyone wants to play a gangsta now. "I'm certified. I make music of all genres and trust, not many can do what I do or make music the way I do". He's enjoyed a great deal of airplay on the biggest radio station in the Hip Hop world, New York's HOT 97.1 from Funk Master Flex, DJ Enuff, Green Lantern, DJ Kay Slay, Mr.Cee, DJ Camilo, DJ Clue. They all respect what he does for the culture. Not since JAY-Z has a rapper from BROOKLYN has had so much love in the STREETS. You've probably seen him on DVDs such as SMACK DVD, THE COME UP DVD, REAL TALK DVD, DJ KAY SLAY [SUBZERO DVD], COCAINE CITY, DIESEL DVD, HOODLIFE DVD, BOSS UP DVD, and SPIT OR GO HOME DVD. He's also received wide acclaim for his collabos and for his originality. "I write songs that talk about everything from the streets to partying," Cashmere insists. "I rhyme about everything that got to do with life and I can deliver hot joints”. “I've also written hit songs for some of your favorite artists in the game now, but for business purposes I'd rather not notify”. Unfortunately, at the end of 2005 he parted ways with the company he called home for years after a series of business mishaps, a blow that left him on a long road of soul searching. But that didn’t stop his grind either, in early 2006 Cashmere recruited a new crew and business partners who he considers “family” and started his own company titled THE CA$H ADMINISTRATION. As the CEO of his own company, Cashmere felt more determined and dedicated to guiding his own career; losing was definitely not an option. At the end of that summer, he dropped his first post-Manhood tape which proved that the kid was still HOT, but was unable to enjoy the fruits of his labor after he caught a drug charge in North Carolina. Nevertheless, his team was determined to keep the movement going strong by networking and creating a buzz that had the whole New York City anxious for Cashmere to come home. “I feel like this situation was a wake up call from God”, Cashmere after his 6 months bid. He came home with a hunger to make a name for himself and take full advantage of his talent. With his buzz still going strong he was able to drop a critically acclaimed classic Mixtape “The Proposal Pt.2” hosted by Mr. Street Wars PCutta which had A&Rs wanting to snatch him before it’s too late. His work ethic and networking has enabled Cashmere to work with different artists like Bun B, Big Daddy Kane, Joell Ortiz, W.C., Raphael Saadiq, Amerie, India Irie, Webbie, Lil Boosie, Tru Life, Papoose, Jae Millz, Maino, Graph, Razah, Stack Bundles, 40 Cal., Cory Gunz, and the list goes on. He's also worked with the production of The Hitmakerz, GQ Beats, G.M Productions, Gunz 'N Butta, Gettin’ It Productions, Steve Classic Production. He's one of the best in the underground. He has also performed in front of fans of all sorts on numerous occasions. He's recently extended his reach nationally and internationally in places like New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia, Delaware, DC, VA, Maryland, Atlanta, North and South Carolina, Texas, Detroit, Minnesota, L.A, The Bay Area, even London [Europe], Germany [Europe], Tanzania [Africa], South Africa, Azerbaijan [Asia] and Japan [Asia]..Its no secret, all over they know Cashmere puts in alot of work.
