I am a guy from Iowa who recently was medically retired from the US Navy. I originally joined in 1998, and was an Aviation Electrician (AE). I was stationed with VF-31 out of Virginia Beach, VA. We worked on the F-14D. Our ship was the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). Did my four and got out in 2002 and went back home to Iowa. Turns out Iowa wasn't working out as well as I had hoped for, so I got back into the Navy in 2005. This time I had to go to school to become a Mineman (MN). I was stationed in San Diego, CA and on the precom unit LCS MIW Det One. The ship they will be on is the USS Freedom (LCS-1), whenever they get all the problems worked out on it and delivered that is.
