My Interests

Dance is my passion and grew out of my childhood obsession with gymnastics. I've taken classes in a lotta styles - Jazz, West African, Cuban Salsa and South African Gumboot Dance (yes in Wellingtons!). Nowadays I do street dance and go to classes at Danceworks where I'm taught by the lovely Hakeem 'Mr Impact' and Kenrick 'H2O' Sandy. Would highly recommend both if you're in London and looking to take up a class.Other than that I cycle, swim and am currently toying with the idea of taking up gymnastics again. Slightly apprehensive because of the fact I'm probably twice the height and a few stones heavier than I was when I stopped at 12 years of age. Can only try, so will keep ya posted.Socialising with my friends is I guess my other activity. They're a lovely bunch and spending time with any and all of them is one of the times I feel most content.Apart from dance and taking part in sport I like to watch them too - mainly hip hop theatre, contemporary dance, rugby, Moto GP, tennis and athletics.I love the arts and wish I could go to the theatre and movies more often. Visual art can sometimes get me, but it depends on the artist and subject.Travel is my most unfilled of ambitions, not to say I've not done some. So far I've done New Zealand's North Island, Prague, parts of France, New York, Netherlands, several places in the UK and Turkey. There's so many places I still want to get to. South America is top of the list, followed by Africa, the rest of New Zealand, the Craibbean and other parts of Europe (Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, etc). I also like the idea of touring the USA on a Harley Davidson.Cooking is something I've always enjoyed but am finding I do more and more nowadays. I find it quite theraputic and it's particularly great making stuff for other people. Nigel Slater's book is next on my list to be tackled. This part of my interests also extends into eating out!I like being creative too, but am rubbish at making time for it. Writing and jewellery making are some of the things I wish I had more time to focus on.

Music:

No way to answer this one. I love all kinds, from the Blues and Soul of the 60s and 70s, to Rock, Hip Hop, World Music. Guess my taste is what you'd describe as eclectic. My current main listen's are Amy Winehouse, Metallica, Timbaland, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeplin, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Ben Harper, Erykah Badu, India Irie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Son of Dave and Antony and the Johnsons. Oh and the Deccapods!!!!

Movies:

I love the movies - there's something about escaping into another world for a couple of hours that gives me a thrill. I love all kindsa film, but prefer the independent lower budget movies to the big blockbusters, although they have their place too. I particualrly like Japanese films like Battle Royale and Zatoichi, martial arts movies from the far east, French, European and S American cinema. In fact pretty much anything as long as it's got a good story, some kick ass fight scenes or brilliant characters!Cohen brothers movies always entertain too!Like pretty much every woman in the world I've seen Dirty Dancing more times than I care to mention. The last film I saw was Bobby with my mate Gemma the night before we did the Race for Life. It was excellent - extremely good acting from all involved.

Television:

ER is one I still feel I can't miss. Also like the new Doctor Who and one for Saturday mornings has to be Saturday Kitchen. There's something sadistic about sitting there with a hang over/an empty fridge and watching them cook all this amazing food, only to be faced with a tin of Heinz soup or a block of cheese when you open the fridge. It's quite depressing really!

Books:

Reading like the movies is one of my other favourite ways to escape the reality of the day. I can never really pick a favourite as they're all so different. I guess one's that I've found affected me the most include The Kite Runner, Memoirs of a Geisha, Dracula and The Birth of Venus.Am currently reading the Time Traveller's Wife. It's good so far.
