About Me

And so the public policy studies begin. That's right. Grad school has started for me at American University. I've got a new place in D.C., so yay for not being homeless AND a student pauper. Also have a new internship for a textbook publishing company, so we'll see how it goes.

My Interests

Singing a cappella at open-mic night, dancing, cooking, hiking, trying new things, reading, learning, trees, creeks, traveling.

I'd like to meet:

halfway-decent folks.

Music:

Dwight Yoakam, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Etta James, Townes Van Zandt.

Movies:

On the Waterfront, Annie Hall, The Royal Tenenbaums, Magnolia, Office Space, Steel Magnolias, Good Night and Good Luck.

Television:

Haven't reallly paid attention to TV since high school, but if I could do it all over again, I would have religiously watched Chapelle's Show. The DVDs hint at what I missed during college, and whenever I drop quotable notables from the show, people's response generally bear witness to the fact that I'm painfully behind the times.

Books:

The Fountainhead, All the King's Men, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, In Cold Blood, The Diary of Anne Frank, Nickel and Dimed, Savage Inequalities, King Leopold's Ghost.

Heroes:

Momma.
