Pocket Kings are best described as crude-conscious; the 'when kayne was cool' type music without the gucci and the ego. Their indie-rap wanna bees who think the worlds about to end, and sooner rather than later.
As founders of Victoria's OutRight Cypher, these passionate emcees figure there is alot to be said and hip hop is the mega phone. Classic hip hop and it's ethos give the Pocket Kings a basis for their open minded/clenched fist attitudes prevelant throughout thier first album, "First Reign" released in 2006. They formed when emcee's Scram and Saint met by working as airline baggage handlers, sick of the nonsense and trying to make something of this life....they formed the Pocket Kings during a game of Texas Hold em in a house on Kings Road. Positive thinking and the urge to rap louder than the other guy keeps em going in a world where it's not cool for a emcee to wear a shirt that fits and to make songs instead of tracks.
Producing all of their music on their own and with Victoria's Outer City and Al Jiggero Productions, they have had an overwhelming initial response and are currently working on their full-length debut, "UnNatural Disaster". An unrivaled amount of effort and energy go into their stage show, keeping crowds listening for an hour or more with the recent addition of DJ SPeedyShoes, the busiest Dj in the victoria nightlife.
In just a short time they've earned themselves opening spots for the Hieroglyphics, The Blue Scholars, Common Market, Chino XL, Kia Kadiri, Josh Martinez and DJ Evil, Snak the Ripper, Emotionz and many others, while also continiously hosting positive all ages events to help promote the burdgeoning hip hop scene in Victoria and surrounding areas.
