MV'S THE NAME; THEY ENVY HIS GAME
Reality: the international music industry is evolving into a much larger, more diverse empire consisting of different techniques, sounds, constantly changing technologies, communication media, all of which continue to raise the standards of "making it." Whether it be a promising artist, unique producer, motivated promoter or intelligent manager, the stakes have reached the point where one needs to have that extra something to stand out, be recognized.
Madre Vieja Productions is much more than producers, managers and artists. It's an entire movement determined to spread change. Led by MV, Madre Vieja seeks to reach a worldwide audience in demonstrating the power of the Latin hip hop movement. With a pacesetter like MV, who is embedded with overwhelming strengths and an obvious desire to succeed, the possibilities of Madre Vieja being heard are greater than large.
MV, born in Villa Consuelo in the Dominican Republic, generated his interest in music early. Spending a large amount of time on the streets of the barrio (known as Madre Vieja), he initially listened to mainly old school hip hop. Madre Vieja (the neighborhood) spread North and South of the area, but MV's parents were from the southern portion (hence the name Madre Vieja Productions). Before reaching the age of fifteen, MV and his family moved their home from DR to a small Massachusetts town by the name of Lynn.
While in Lynn, MV found a hobby in fixing and working with ?computers that pushed him to open up his own establishment in Boston. A friend told a friend and sooner than later, MV became Boston's 'go-to computer guy.' It was there, the year being 2003, that he met his very own go-to man, his mentor-to-be, High Rollers Family's and Mas Flow's mega producer Doble A. Already extremely familiar with the rapidly rising movement of Latino hip hop and reggaeton and realizing his mutual interest in music production with Doble A, MV didn't hesitate when his new acquaintance offered to teach him, assist him in learning a handful of new tips of the trade and, in addition, hand him his hard drive and music library in whole. So MV was put to the test. This was his chance, his opportunity to show this producer what he can do and he was surprised to see the amount of motivation apparent within his aura.
After being away for a week, Doble A returned to find 10 well-produced and professionally-mixed beats done by an ambitious, talented and driven young man. Impressed with the outcome of the challenge, Doble A invited MV to work with his team, the High Rollers Family, who were generating tremendous noise in the Boston and New York City areas.
During the years following, MV's roster of artists and producers ?worked with has reached great numbers. Included on that list aside ?from the High Rollers Family are Bones, Mas Flow and Doble A, promoter Charlie, NYC's duo Del Patio, Tigueraje 809, CLK and Cuban Link and Charlatan Music. From producing for High Rollers' Cala Peso to doing all web design and videos for Doble A and the entire movement to being included in professional photoshoots, MV created a reputation for himself as Mr. Make-it-Happen. Never letting anyone down and certainly never disappointing a client with poor work, MV's work was recognized all over.
Through his relationships with music heads in the streets, MV was able to take his visions to another level. On top of producing, his love for Latin hip hop in general has created for him a dream that he swears to make reality. MV Productions is encircled by the efforts of the team in combining all Latin hip hop talent and meaning and bringing it all under one umbrella.Having reached the highest point possible in music in Lynn, MV made the toughest, but most likely the most beneficial and smartest, move of his life. After selling his business and dropping everything in Massachusetts behind, but carrying on his shoulders ?his production talent and desire to excel, he moved to New York City. New York City, being the home of all hip hop, once again raised the bar for MV and he realized he needed to take things to the next, much more advanced, level. He teamed up with his cousin 'Flaco the Pro' and, together, they created a driving force going full throttle against all the odds. Shortly after making New York ?his new home, MV landed a job with well-known promoter Electro as the resident graphics designer at the Jet Set Café Club in the Bronx. Realizing that the New York music circle sleeps on connections, contacts and growth, MV himself grew a strong determination to keep everyone he meets close by his side. Since his move, he's produced for Big Will, an upcoming artist running independently, gained a great deal of experience in promotions through Jet Set and is brushing his shoulders off in getting ready to drop his first mixtape album representing his purpose.
Temporada de Joseo highlights the wishes of MV to squash all beef ?floating in the Latin hip hop melting pot and emphasize that raw, street talent. Included on the disc are the biggest names in Latin hip hop today. MV believes Dominican hip hop in particular would move farther up the ladder if artists began making music with meaning, focusing on lyrics. With this album, he hopes to reach a worldwide audience that will first feel the confidence and pride in the music and then listen to and respect, not only each track, but the movement itself.
Aside from his mixtape album and music video dropping in September of 2008, MV has discovered his own female artist he is currently managing. A bilingual R&B / reggaeton vocalist with a talent in songwriting as well, Krystal looks to be the next Latina to drop that much-anticipated hit. Aside from Krystal and Flaco, MV Productions includes an upcoming rapper Saul Leyenda and is sub-connected to an entire stream of professional photographers, videographers, writers, promoters and producers.
The question remains. The music industry has made it difficult for ?new cats to succeed and make a name for themselves. However, MV has that extra something. That something that gives him the ability to deliver power and credibility with everything he puts his name on. With a strong will to put everything on hold, he's dedicated to completing the mission he's set for Madre Vieja Productions on day one. Being the most envied dude without a product on the streets, MV has taken it on his back to create change in this growing movement and, all in all, "make it."
