Heres some cool info about me.I grew up like any other kid in the 70s and 80s. I was a KISS fanatic in the 70s, but then again, who wasnt? I really started getting into music when my parents bought me my first stereo. It was the old flat looking receiver with the BIG silver volume knob and the screen lit up blue. It also had the red dial that went across the screen when trying to find a station. My favorite thing about it was the factory 8-track because my folks also bought me the following 8-tracks to go with it..The Best of The Guess Who, Elvis Presley Live at Madison Square Garden, Linda Ronstadt-Heart Like A Wheel, Queen-News Of The World, Kiss-Alive II, and ZZ Top-Tres Hombres. Those 8-tracks are really what got me started or at least fed my hunger until the awesome 80s came around. Then, I started getting into AC/DC, Journey, Foreigner, Ozzy, etc.but when I first heard the guitar solo in Foreigner's Juke Box Hero, I KNEW I wanted to play music. From that point on, I started buying all of the cassettes that I could, sitting in my room for hours and hours practicing and writing music. By this time, heavy metal was becoming HUGE and most of the music that was heard streaming from my stereo speakers were Van Halen, Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Krokus, Judas Priest and barrels full of other metal bands that I loved. So, by the mid to late 80s, my room looked like an 80s metal warehouse. I had posters hanging everywhere. There metal t-shirts laying around, cds and cassettes were thrown all around. It was awesome..By the mid to late 80s, I had become quite a good guitar player. Well, from a rhythm standpoint, I was pretty good, but my lead work needed help. So, I started playing in bands in high school. Most of these were just small jam sessions with different players, but one of my first serious bands was a band called "The Calling". We sucked!! I mean, some of our tunes were ok, but our lead singer tried a little too hard and he thought we were really going to make it. Well, after a few gigs and making a small recording in the studio, we called it quits mainly because our singer had different views than the rest of us. This was probably not my proudest moment and you can ask my friends Ben and Chad (who are also here on this site and are listed as my friends), I think they will agree.I think that there was a lot of talent and potential there but for some reason, our singer had other plans. Anyhow, after the breakup, I had small gigs in several other bands including my good friend Trey's(he is also on my friends list) band Chance. Now, this was a REAL band and they were very good. Of all the gigs I've had, I felt the most comfortable in this group, but once again, it didnt work out. I REALLY liked playing in Chance and felt that I fit in better. Plus, the guys in the band were great to hang with.Once again, after a gig or two, I was looking for another gig. I jammed with a few people here and there but I really wanted to concentrate on my lead playing. Then, in January 1993, not long after my Chance gig, my friend Trey and his buddy Joel asked me to come up to the loft where they practiced to jam a little. Needless to say, after 4 days of working together, we had written 4 songs and THEY WERE AWESOME. I'm sure that Trey remembers because we practiced these songs and had them NAILED. As we would rehearse, people would come in and tell us how great they we sounded. One girl even said that we were better than Chance. Of course, the band lineup was 2/3 Chance anyway. At this point if I remember correctly, I think Trey had mentioned that he was frustrated about Chance and was ready for a change. I thought this was a great opportunity for all of us to make something good happen. But it never really came together. But I STILL have those tapes.Trey would go on to join Gypsy Train, I met my wife to be and spent lots of time with her and Im not quite sure what happened to Joel. In November 93, I got married but I still played in several bands. Some Im proud of and others Im not. I also hung out with my best friend Harlan, who fits into all of these events, somehow. Anyway, I played on and off up until around 4 years ago and nothing was really happening with it and I really didnt have much time with 2 kids to raise. But I still play guitar, build guitars and hold on to the dreams of playing for a living and after lots of practicing and a little help from my buddy Mark Anderson, my leads got better. I still plan on pursuing a career in music as soon as things start coming together and the good Lord willin, hopefully that will happen soon because thats where my heart is.And there you have it. I'm sure there is a lot more to this story that I left out, but time is too sweet and I do have a lot to do.You know, if you ask my buddies Harlan, Ben, Chad, Trey and anyone else I may have forgotten, I'm sure they'll have some good stories to add.............later......
