About Me

"UMBRELLA" AVAILABLE ON ITUNES NOW! CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE ..For the first time in his career, Scott is flying solo as both a songwriter and performer. As the primary songwriter of The Argument, Simons became adept at writing hooky pop songs with incredibly infectious melodies. The Argument was one of the top indie touring bands of the last decade, with a loyal fan base that stretched across the country. They were named one of the top ten unsigned bands in the country by the American Music Awards in 2003, due in part to that fan base, and in part to stellar songwriting and trademark keyboard-driven pop hooks. They sold over 12,000 copies of two independent releases, and opened for such national acts as Keane, Fountains of Wayne and Howie Day.Since signing with indie label Rostrum Records in mid-2006, Simons has continued to hone his craft, recording five new tracks with a renewed emphasis on keyboards (there are no guitar parts). The songs are mixed by Neal Pouge (Outkast, Citizen Cope, Stevie Wonder) and John Fields (Bleu, Semisonic, Switchfoot, Andrew WK) and produced by Ted Comerford (Zox, Virginia Coalition). Simons has also been co-writing jingles and song pitches to other artists, and he plans to tour regionally in 2007 as a solo artist."I'm just trying to be honest with who I am and what I write," he says. "And that's the main thing driving my new career. When I was writing for the band, I started to become afraid that I was running out of tricks or my ideas didn't fit in the context of the band. But now I figure, I've been writing for awhile and ive written a lot of stuff. I am what I am."And that will be music to the ears of Argument fans. For everyone else who cares to lend an ear, Scott Simons is just beginning to show what he is capable of.NEW video update:
