About Me

Hi, I'm Laurence the DJ a.k.a DJ Log a.k.a the Iceman (sometimes known as 70's superdude Lorenzo Lovebomb too!)from super, sunny Birtley (Chester-le-Street)
I started DJ'ing back in the early 90's while being a glass-collector on the Tuxedo Royale floating nightclub as well as messing about at home with samplers, decks, keyboards etc, It was a great launch pad for what I do now, anyway, you may remember me from The Boat, Planet Earth, The 'Amazing' Legends!!! Flares/Reflex/Boom! and The Lounge, all in Newcastle. On a larger scale, you may remember me from the one and only (and much copied) schooldisco.com, I was a resident DJ with the brand from 2002-2005 in and around the North of England. I've also spent residential time in bars and clubs in and around Leeds and Manchester, Whitley Bay, Sunderland, Darlington And Teesside, I also do various guest slots around bars and clubs across the North-East. I'm quite the student night boy in Newcastle, I've done some of the most busy and successful student nights (Ikon, Wednesdays, 2005/06 anyone?) around town, you'll currently catch me at Baja Beach Club (Miami Vice) on Sundays, Sweet @ The Lounge, Wednesdays, also The Lounge on a Friday and Saturday, I consider myself a good all round DJ, Pigeonhole me at your peril, I'll fucking kill you!!! I put the same passion into every night that I do, whether it's a house gig, a hip-hop/r&b gig, 80's or even chart/mainstream, hell, I even did a full on metal night in 2005!! I'll admit, I've worked in a lot of commercial bars and clubs, that doesn't mean I'm any less professional though, "Yorkshire, New Orleans, it's all the same to me baby!" I've met some great people on the way (*AND SOME NOT SO GREAT, WHICH I WILL REVEAL ALL ABOUT SHORTLY!) I'm notorious for having my Zippy mascot with me, (a birthday present from over 5 years ago, MANY THANKS GOING OUT TO CLAIRE AND KAZ FOR HIM!!!! that just stuck with me! My Interests

When I'm not laying down the slabs of tuneage, I have many interests, including: Bushcraft/Outdoor Survival/Hiking, Ebay,(I have a shop) Video Games, (limited till I get a Wii/PS3) Fine Wines, BMX, (yes I'm a kidult!) Home Improvement, Great Films and lots more...

I'd like to meet:

Serious industry contacts... i.e Bar Managers, Nightclub Managers, Well Established Promoters, even PR/Media types, basically anyone who can keep this DJ wheel turning. I especially want to get back in my beloved Whitley Bay, I miss the place like you'll never know! Who I 'wouldn't' like to meet......DJ/Entertainment Agencies, Any female that lists 'anything with Johnny Depp in' for favourite movies, Swingers, Thai beauties, or sexy 'wanna see me naked', or 'honey' type people, fakes like Kate Lawler, Girls Aloud, (well I've played to one of them and it was excruciating to say the least!) or any reality tv wannabes, or has beens, daft groups from America that I'm never going to join, comedians from America, Folk groups (snore........)! I can spot the 'friend adds' a mile off anyway. It's all about music, colleagues, classic friends and lifestyle here, so if I don't add you, please don't be offended!.......

Music:

Hard section for a DJ to fill in.... but, I like and play Drum & Bass, (high contrast, pendulum, DJ zinc, clipz etc) House, (roger sanchez, dave lee, d ramirez, k-klass, david morales, daft punk etc) Hip-Hop/Soul, (Timbaland, Eminem, snoop dogg, pharrell, missy elliott, t.i, ludacris etc) 80's Music, A-ha, duran duran, soft cell, the human league, stefan dennis, the specials, talk talk, laura branigan (may the lord shine on you sweet lady) the london boys (and also for you guys)

Movies:

I have to say, I'm a big zombie nut! Dawn Of The Dead

Day Of The Dead

Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 any cool zombie films, I also like Stanley Kubrick films

gangster films, 'teen' films, loads really, I have an extensive DVD collection!

Television:

I like: Heroes, Top Gear, Ray Mears Extreme Survival, Hogan Knows Best, River Cottage (stop laughing!) The Mighty Boosh

, The Soprano's

South Park

and good comedy stuff, I also like Sky Sports News, 'Property' programs and the music channels, MTV Dance etc.

Books:

I hardly read books, although I have done not too long ago, Anne Rice, Philip Roth and books 'to accompany' the TV series, Bear Grylls etc....
