Friendship Games is a highly anticipated event hosted by California State University, Fullerton's P.A.S.A (Pilipino American Student Association)Kaibigan. This event celebrates S.P.U.F (Spirit, Pride, Unity, and Friendship) with over 7,000 individuals and over 50 colleges and universities across the nation. Friendship Games began in 1985 for the sole purpose of bringing together cultural clubs from various college campuses across Southern California. What began as fun and friendly picnic games developed into a competition amongst all schools in attendance. The very first champion of these games, Kasama, came from Mt. San Antonio College. Twenty-one years later, Friendship Games still continues to be an exciting, fun-filled event. Schools compete in friendly picnic games such as Alpine Green, Conveyor Belt, and Tidal Wave for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies. Also, the school observed to demonstrate the most S.P.U.F. (Spirit, Pride, Unity, and Friendship) is awarded a trophy measuring 8 feet tall. As each year passes, this event continues to grow in size and scope. Friendship Games has come to represent more than just Pilipino American college students. It has given a significant identity to individuals no matter what ethnicity. This is a time when old friends reunite and where new friendships form, ultimately coming together to celebrate the Pilipino heritage.
