Spawned from the fertile musical environs of San Pedro, California, The D*MAGGS are a female-fronted, guitar-driven rock group with heavy drums and bass. Together since 1998, The D*MAGGS draw from such influences as The WHO, KISS, The Pixies, X, The Pretenders, Cheap Trick, The Clash, Joan Jett, and of course The Legendary Mike Watt. Krista Ray and Sheila McSherry share give-and-take vocals and rhythm-guitar duties. Guitarist Darrell Ray delivers driving riffs and fiery leads. Bassist Troy Spiropoulos and drummer Myra Gallarza round out the bands sturdy sound with solid beats and menacing bass lines. Band highlights include performing on the Panasonic Core Tour, a traveling extreme-sports festival sponsored by Ernie Ball two summers in a row. The D*MAGGS continue to play the South Bay, L.A. and the O.C. music scene. In 2001, The D*MAGGS were selected as one of the top 10 bands in the South Bay (Los Angeles). In a news feature titled, Rock the Vote, one judge was quoted as saying that the "The D*MAGGS know how to belt out a tune with non-threatening angst. The two female vocalists totally complement one another." The D*MAGGS perform original compositions, a few covers and are frequently played on Internet radio.
