Marcie and Hypa, born and raised in the estates of West London are now by far the Hottest double act the U.K’s music industry have witnessed since the Ragga twins, emerging from London’s underground Grime scene Marcie Phonix and Hypa Fenn’s energy, creativity, presence and professionalism enables the them to stand out from other artist’s like a white rose in a red bunch.
“People stop us on the street all the time and ask why we haven’t yet been signed to a Major record label?” We reply... “How long is a piece of string?”
“You can’t sit around waiting for anything in life, we just continue to make great music for ourselves because we enjoy it, and for our fans because they continue to support us by buying our music and attending our shows to see us perform live”.
Marcie Phonix and Hypa Fenn sound nothing alike, they have two completely different sounds to their voices and two completely different flows and writing patterns, however when you witness the two artist’s come together on one song, it kinda reminds you of when you we’re a kid mixing the colours blue and yellow to make that new Perfect green! Currently working with top producer Sticky (producer of Ms Dynamite’s smash hit record Boo and Lady Stoosh’s underground hit record Dollar sign), the duo are aiming to have their first Official single release by September 2008 and an Album completed by the end of the year 2008.
We’ve seen the pair graft the underground scene for years, building their names on pirate radio stations such as Freeze fm and Rinse fm, performing at the biggest Grime and U.K. urban music events in the country such as Wiley’s Eskimo Dance to Club Sidewinder, also performing for crowds all over Europe back to London’s own Trafalgar square for the packed out “Love Music Hate Racism” event. Also starring/acting in the massive television series Dubplate Drama (broadcasted on channel 4, E4, mtv and mtv base) the two artists have proven they can act as well as write songs!
