About Me
Based in paisley, Chris Mcdonald ( Elecstatic/ Sinister Disco) composes and produces his music from his very own home studio. Chris writes many forms of music, and what you hear on www.myspace.com/elecstatic is a small introduction to some demos that he has put together. chris was taught the fundamentals of sound engineering, production and studio eticat. by the master engineer, duncan cameron of riverside studios, busby scotland, and has taken the sound advice given and put it to good use. duncan cameron has engineered some of the greatest talents known the world over. acts such as, travis, the bmx bandits, llcoolj, st deluxe, tori amos, the teenage fan club, the dykeenies, the starlets and many other well known artists have called upon duncan and johnnys guidance. Chris has a passion for many forms of music and does not hold himself to one style. His passions for music spans various genres and cannot be pidgeon holed. "Over many years i eventually ended up with the set-up i own now. Im using a "Apple Mac G4 Dual 1.25G processor" running "Logic Platinum 7.1". I also use various soft synths and hardware synths alike. any hardware i use is routed to the computer via my yamaha O1V 96 digital desk and hammerfall digi 96 optical soundcard. this is a beautiful set up, and i would not swap it for anything else. well....... maybe a "G5 Mac". I also use reason 3.0 as a rewire instrument, and together, they allow me to do what ever i feel at the time". Chris has changed over the years and now he has the ability to play guitar, bass guitar, piano, drum kit, hand percussion, a vinyl jokey and also twiddles with other instruments. Chris is currently in the process of creating two record labels called "sinisterdisco records" and "elecstatic records". these labels will show his abilities and other musicians abilities in the art form of electronic music composition. so watch this space dear freinds. Chris also has a passion for vocals and lyrics, and at one time was the frontman for a band named "MANRIB" www.manribmusic.com (why not check out the site, you can see the other side to him?) "MANRIB" was an eclectic mix of funk, jazz, blues, rock and folk. (you never know, if they had kept it together there would have been many other influences creeping in). Unfortunatly MANRIB are no more, but Chris still Plays in a band called "SILVA" with the guitarist and cousin (Mark McDonald) and also the bass player (Kev the bassmeister). Chris is also working with various other musicians and composers at the moment, including Adam Shaw (SILVA), Tony (drummer SILVA), Gavin B (Guitar SILVA), Alex (keyboard SILVA), Gordon (rythm guitar SILVA), Craig Matthew (dj/ producer ELEMENTS), Colin Richardson (dj producer), Danny McMicheal (gutarist) , Laura Cairns (pianist), David Spears (bassist), John Hillcoat (vocalist/ footballer), Alan Mitchell (vocalist, guitarist, drummer, producer and instumentalist), John Patterson (vocalist/ guitarist/ songster). many influences and also songs which developed in the manrib camp have filtered into the band "SILVA" and are now once again gigging in various venues in Britain. (keep yer eyes and ears peeled). The tracks on this site are rough demos for you to hopefully enjoy, and if you would like to hear more, let Chris know and he will be pleased to put new tracks on his site. Chris has many more creations to share and is always looking for new people to collaberate with. If this is you, why not get in touch. Take care all and look after yourself, your the only one you've got. x
