About Me

I started playing at open mics in Stirling around 2001 and started writing songs shortly after. My songwriting skills and ability to sing them has improved to the stage where people actualy enjoy listening to them!I enjoy music for fun but am quite happy to be paid for it too :-)I also used to play the bodhran in the sulphur children and spokers loan.I'm getting into playin the mandolin a bit too (in fact i used it for a song at celtic connections). it's good fun and easier to carry about than a guitar!!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: John Paterson plus occasional others, eg Bruce (sax and hats) or Alan (just about everything). Regularly playing music with Drew just now.
Influences: Usually alcohol but also plenty of other musicians. I'm open minded about listening to all sorts of music. If you think i'll like it, try me out. I like variety (or perhaps i have a short attention span?)

A wee christmas bonus:

Sounds Like: What some other people said:

"Leonard Cohen meets Gerry Rafferty up a close, and there's a fight over a woman!"
"Well nothing I like anyway"
"Hmm, a wee bit of Davie Bowie there"
"you have the same mind-set as bob dylan as a poet who speaks of true life experiences. but with the John Paterson character intertwined throught the compositions. great arrangements, compliment the true beauty and simplicity, that creates great music"
Someone also just mentioned Roy Harper!
