Fresh out of the U.S. Virgin Islands, straight to Florida, is a new Dancehall/Hip-Hop artist known as Caj-1. A true island boy, Caj-1 born Clement Daniel, spent most of his life living in the Caribbean. Born on the beautiful island of St. Kitts, he lived there until his early teens; he then moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York. During this time Caj was exposed to Hip-Hop when New York was the center of rap, thanks to artists such as The Notorious BIG and the Fugees. This, along with influences from West Coast and Southern rappers, made a deep impact on a young Caj, who before this mainly listened to Dancehall artists such as Supa Cat and Beenie Man. Due to difficulties, Caj-1 was sent back to St. Kitts. During this period, he would have gone down the wrong path, if it werent for one teachers compassion. After reuniting with his family, they moved to the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He lived there until late 2005, he then moved to Tallahassee, Florida at age 23. Caj-1 has managed to fuse Hip-Hop, Dancehall, R&B and Soca, into a seamless blend of music. With this mixture of music, Caj-1 has created a style which he calls Ranting. This involves combining rapping from Hip-Hop, chanting from Dancehall and singing. Presently, his songs Bounce and Party House are getting radio airplay throughout the Caribbean and in parts of the U.S. Acting is yet another avenue that Caj has recently entered. His efforts have already landed him a role in an upcoming movie. Though faced with many challenges, he has risen above all obstacles. With his style and unique flavor, Caj-1 is poised to change the music world.
