The Brooklyn born beat smith grew up in Bed-Stuy and always found music a way to express his thoughts about his surroundings. He grew up listening to such greats such as Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, and Marvin Gaye. He was always into those smooth melodic grooves that captured your soul.Today Melodiq plays electric bass guitars and keyboard synthesizers, which he taught himself. He can read sheet music for the bass and can pick up and play today’s musical bass lines by ear. He is a studio engineer, composer and arranger. You can find Melodiq at his top of the line home studio where he is steady banging out hot juicy tracks after tracks. He creates about 5 to 6 tracks per week and he rarely use samples to get his beats across. He will capture you with his own wicked style. His influences stems from James Jamerson, Marley Marl, Jacco Pastorius, Paul McCartney, Pete Rock and Dr.Dre.During the years of 1992-94 Melodiq worked at Inner City Broadcasting (WBLS) radio station in NYC in the events/promotions department. He started out as an intern and ended up as 2nd assistant to the music director. Melodiq always had a pulse on what was hot in music; he even gave suggestions to the music director on what songs would sound hot on the radio and on the streets. He also assisted radio personalities such as “Hollywoodâ€, “Sunny Joeâ€, and “Lisa Lopez†to name a few. He also went as far to meeting artists and helped promote different artists and the radio station. Today Melodiq is not just a producer but he is an entrepreneur as well.He founded his music production company “Klear Sound Productions, Inc.†in 2002. He is also the President & Founder of Urban Fire Radio one of the hottest Internet radio stations in the world, which he recently launched in the beginning of 2006. His main focus for Klear Sound Production is to create and provide music instrumentals for upcoming artists, lyricists, and singers in the R&B Hip Hop community. As to date Melodiq produced tracks for Jiggy, LiL Mil, Phase One, and background music of themes for commercials. The type of music Melodiq normally creates is typically R&B, Neo-Soul, and Hip Hop/Rap music. Melodiq beats have a street edge sound with raw hip hop beats surrounded with smooth melodic melodies.
