To those who have never heard a painting before:Truly, what is there to say about the Mashman? Who is the Mashman? Dilla says don’t be “Mashed!” How else are you to appreciate eclectic Hip Hop instrumentation if your system isn’t up to the Red? Phonte said it best when he says “I love Hip Hop I just hate the Ni--as in it.” Mashman isn’t one of those nephews to hate. When you listen to his music you cannot do anything but appreciate the love you have for this culture. Who has he done work for? Who cares? At the end of the day you need to know if the music is dope. The music is dope. Why? That Guy says so. Anyone on the face of this planet that has been consuming their lives with rap music for the last 20 years will without a doubt find everything about the Mashman’s music dope. He has been able to define the evolution of Hip Hop’s musical instrumentation in his layering, timing, scales and sequencing and pure raw soulful percussion that will take you right to the point in time when music was completely authentic. Yes his music is definitely for any producers’ ear or aspiring producers’ ear. Much like Dilla’s Donuts LP, Mashman shall truly continue to bring you to a new frame of mind as we enter the future. Mashman is one of the “Tomorrow People” simply because when you hear his music today and especially tomorrow, you are still only listening to yesterday! When you play Mashman’s music to your friends you will most assuredly be posed with the question, “What the heck is that?” Then you will naturally pause. At this point you will proceed to turn up the volume. You will then watch your friend contort their head in a strange way like you’ve never seen them do and they will ask you again, “Who is this?” Once they ask the magic question you reply by saying, “You haven’t heard this yet?” This is for the unorthodox, eclectic, truly artistic, unconventionally appreciating Hip Hop enthusiast. Personally there will be times when you need to hear Hip Hop with out the rap. At that point in time its Mashman time. Really, it’s time to get Mashed so stop playing around.Mashurmental.P.S.
